I checked my past service records and the technician did not do a LSD oil change!! Im siting at 8900 KM... what potential damage have i done to the vehicle at this point? I already stopped driving my car til i take it in for service this week

Need feedback

I wouldn't worry about it...I seriously doubt any damage or even extra wear has occurred at all. I would, however, set it up so your diff fluid is drained immediately when you arrive for service so any particulates are still held in suspension.

I seriously doubt that you've done any damage, but who did the relevant service when the diff oil SHOULD have been changed, and why did they miss it?
Cheers, Pickles.

They should at least give you a call and remind you. LSD oil is different than what we have for regular engine oil change. The best is 3000kms per change. I am not sure what will be the damage at this point. Hopefully you can find out when you do the service

Not sure how your car is spec'd, but this only applies to the optional mechanical LSD. Standard LSD doesn't need to be changed until much later I believe.

You sir should give your dealer ****. You have PP + LSD, you should have changed at 3000 max(I was told by my dealer to roll in at 2500). The break in diff oil needs to be changed without question.

Only damage at this point is emotional and psychological. Take about 750mg of Valium and chillout already.

Can you explain the difference between the "optional mechanical LSD" and "Standard LSD"? Thanks.

All modern cars (including Honda Civic) have at least an open differential. And I believe the one in most base AMG's is an open differential one. The optional LSD, as the name suggests, is a limited slip differential. If I remember correctly, the optional LSD for the C63 is not a pure mechanical one like that by Quaife.

But will the vehicle suffer damage . Excessive wear from not doing the recommended LSD slip oil change at 3000km. Now sitting at 8900km

With all those shavings and particles floating around, it's definitely not a healthy environment for the LSD since the recommended oil change was at 3K km. Only a complete disassembly and/or examination of the changed oil will give you an idea if there is damage or not.

I would definitely make it a priority to have the oil changed asap if I were you.

From what I have heard, the optional AMG LSD will all eventually wear out, unlike the mechanical Quaife LSD, which will last forever as long as proper maintenance is done. However, each has its pros and cons.

Partially correct.

The "standard" differential in the C63 AMG is an open gear type. The "optional" LSD is a Drexler clutch type.

Quaife and Wavetrac are helical gear type.

Check out this vid. I think someone posted this on here at some point.

In us, any car that needs an LSD service after break in period has a sticker reminder on the windshield in addition to the normal break in sticker. If you didn't have that, check your spec sheet to confirm that you indeed have an LSD. I would not trust the window sticker that has the price of the car. If you truly have an LSD just go get it seviced. Don't worry too much. It's not like you drove it for 50000 and then realized this.

Why did you service your car other than LSD anyway? My first visit was for LSD. Why else would you go in?

If you did go in for a service and asked for necessary work to be done and your dealer failed, write a nice letter to mb and demand that if something happens to your LSD outside warranty, that they would consider extending the warranty or to have dealer repair/replace it at no cost to you. My 2¥.

Every 60000km or 2 years after first change at 3000km.

2012 C63 p31
Just picked up my c63 coupe p31 + lsd option at the beginning of August, While picking her up I was never once warned about taking her in for an LSD fluid change. I took her home and read the manual, and it told me to change the lsd fluid at 2,000 miles. Since no one warned I wonder what would happen if I didn't read the manual or even come across that page. I probably would have never gone to the dealership until the first service at 10k :O. It's funny because we can complain about being warned about it but if you think about it, when you're buying the car your dealing with a salesman and a finance manager not a technician.

I'm sure your lsd is fine! Unless your taking corners like Mika Hakkinen or something lol. Just go get it changed :-P

This is indeed true, after reading this I went to the garage to look at it! Oh and I think he went to the dealership when he was scheduled at 10k miles or 8k km for the general service of the vehicle and never specifically went in for the LSD in the early miles.

Either way the guys in service should have checked if the fluid had been changed yet. There is no excuse.
