Forgestar CF10's?? Need help

Hey Fellas,

I got the Forgestar CF10's on my car as some of you have seen from the pics...My question is regarding the hubcentric rings...Anyone else who has these wheels, did yours come with hubcentric rings also??

I have been having problems with shimmy/shakes in my steering wheel since I got them put on...I had them balanced, rebalanced, and then rebalanced again...The last time was done by a performance shop in NY who actually make their own wheels so I think they know a few things here and there about this stuff...they road force balanced the tires/wheels on the inside and out and everything seems to be ok now...tire and wheel spin true and the wheels are not bent...but I still feel some shimmy in the steering wheel but was told it may just be the roads around here...I do have Super Sports so I was told they grip the road and u feel everything with them...

I was told by the owner of the place that if a wheel is made specifically for your car then we should not need hubcentric rings...He got more technical with me and explained things but its all foreign to me but in the big picture it makes sense. It should fit true! This concerns me!

Any help and anyones elses experiences with this would be great...I know there are a bunch of you that got these same wheels/setup for their cars...Would appreciate some feedback

This experience has taken away the pleasure of actually driving the car and enjoying it...I know modding can be a pain since its aftermarket **** but this shouldn't be that hard if these wheels were made for the car

Thanks,

Chris

Hub should be 66.5

If it's smaller it won't fit onto your car

If it's slightly bigger then you will get shakes and vibrations at speed.

So if your wheels were balanced properly, straight and true then I have a feeling your hub bore is too large.

Hubrings will fix your issue.

It's strange that your wheels were not the proper fit to begin with.

As far as I'm aware Forgestars need hubcentric rings. My F14 needed them so I would think the CF10's are no different.

I would contact who you bought the wheels from and see what they say. Usually a set of four are included in one of the wheel boxes.

Check the boxes they were shipped in. Sometimes wheel companies tape hub rings, valve stems ect to the boxes.

The hubrings came with the wheels. I have them on. The only issue is they are 72 instead of the 66.5 which our cars should have. Which means that these wheels are made for a BMW I was told but drilled to fit mine after the specs were given. This is where my problem is with either the wheel company or the person I purchased them from which was Matt at Campionishop. Why are they giving me hubrings that are 72 instead of 66.5? But I'm assuming 66.5 would be way to small and cause major problems!

If the wheels are made specifically for our cars then u shouldn't need hubrings at all! So this is what I've been told.

Forgestar never has made hub-specific wheels for MB. It save them money and only costs you <1500 for wheels. Get the proper 66.5 rings and try it or sell the rims to me.

If the hubrings they gave u are 72, then u need to get the proper ones (66.5). It's fairly inexpensive but Campanio/ Forgestar should be able to give u the right one free of charge. They can be plastic or metal ring, same thing.

I don't think Forgestar makes hubcentric wheels specific to each cars.. Only high end wheels companies do, like my SV1 & HRE.

why wouldn't they give me the right ones from the start??? Makes no sense does it?? If MB are 66.5, it makes zero sense to give me 72 unless they were meant for another car

I think they only gave you the wrong rings by accident. I don't think your wheels were made for a BMW cuz your wheels would have the wrong bolt pattern & wrong offset.

If they have been re-drilled to for your car, then I hope they told you at first & give you the choice to buy or not.

The guy at the performance shop I went to today explained the whole process to me...I not to good with all the technical stuff obviously but they def know their **** since they do high end cars for major athletes and so forth...they actually make their own wheels there...I don't have that kind of money or I would have em do a set for me since he is a friend of a good friend of mine...And I don't have the money for HRE's either which is why I went with Forgestar...Look great and relatively inexpensive and from what I hear a good quality wheel...Just expect things to be done right and sold the right way...Tough to find these days

I feel you about your disappointment, when we buy something we always expect it to work properly.

But in your case, it's not too bad as we know for sure once you have the right rings, your wheels will roll perfectly. I just hope you were aware that your wheels were not built hubcentric.. and it is wrong to say Forgestar are custom built to your car fitment. They only have few sizes with few offset that will fit our cars, you cannot special order the offset to your liking... like HRE does.

Well, at least it's a good compromise since they look good & are inexpensive as you said.

What are your offset for the 19x10R? You would need + 53mm & higher to clear if you decide to drop.

Get the proper center rings and your problem will be solved. Your wheels are not perfected centered causing vibration.

Yes I got the CF10's in a 19x10 and 19x11's, don't know the offset or hubsize, but I will try to find out for you. Bear in mind I have a CLK black series so the offsets will be way off.

Just spoke to the owner of Forgestar the hubcentric ring should be a 66.6....have your shop put that on and it should take care of your issues.

^^ I think OP already figured out he needs 66.5-6 centering rings.. But he can't understand why Forgestar sent him 72mm?

72.56 is the outer diameter for the wheel hub bore. That is correct. The hub ring should fit in the wheel and then snug on the car.

Roswell has given you some great info.

I want to add....

If your wheel shop is so high end, knowledgeable and makes their own wheels they should have a proper hub ring for you... Hell they can machine you one!

If not then you will have to wait for whomever sold you the wheels to send you the proper mounting hardware....

here's another question.....

Are you using ball seat or conical seat wheel lugs? =O)

^^ very good point Rsquad911... OP what kind of lugs are you using? I believe Forgestar are using cone seated lugs, not the OEM ball seated... if so, this might be the cause of your slight vibration.
