CPO with no LSD (oil) change/service?

would the dealer be responsible to do this service before selling the car as CPO?

thanks.. with all the LSD oil questions here - and i don't want to 'hijack' anyones thread.. i think this should make sense right? looking back again in the carfax report that i got from the dealer, showing oil/filter change (done very year) but not sure if any other service on the car includes the LSD oil service/change.. would any MB dealer provide complete record service on the car to find out if this service was done? i've driven the car 1k miles now since i got it a month ago

Yup. It's technically not a proper CPO if it wasn't properly serviced before offering it for sale as a CPO. Ask for the service records. They should provide you with the most recent service statement before sale.

i called my local MB dealer here (i bought the car from another state) and when they looked up the service records they can't see that this LSD oil service (or change) was (ever) performed.. all service/records show regular oil change, tires, breaks, etc but no LSD :-(

the service booklet that came with the car doesn't have anything written on it.

i'm planning to call MB USA on Monday to ask them about this.. not sure what the next thing to do here (if this service wasn't done ever).. the car is warrantied up to 2017.

Was it due?

If it's a P31 car, a change was due at 2000mi. If it's not, I believe it's due at 20k or 30k; can't remember exactly.

its a 2009 C63 with P30.. i got it pre-owned at 20200 in the odo.. now its 21160 miles.. i didn't pay attention to this 'service' until similar threads showed up here so just got curious.. there's a post here asking what's the possible problems that (might) arise when this service wasn't done at all.. some were suggesting to have it opened (??) or checked, etc?

What I've always done with preowned is if in doubt, do the service.

I can't comment on how to inspect to make sure there's no damage, but if it was me, I'd go and get the LSD fluid change done. And if you don't have proof the 20k fluid changes were done, I'd do them too.

I believe for 20k it's just oil and brake fluid.

P31 does not include LSD. P30 does. 2011 and later LSD is a stand alone option.

Ah, yes, indeed. Forgot about them splitting it out. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks GL.. definitely will do that.. I'll schedule for this service on Monday just so I don't think about this.. anyone have an idea how much this service costs? the dealership today couldn't give me a (good) quote as the service dept is closed.

got some more details yesterday from the dealership that i purchased this from.. the lady was kind enough to send me the records they have on the car:

rear axle oil (with price $48.00; labor $44.96) done at 5,065 miles - dated 06-25-09 (car was purchased new on 02-2009).

is this the service that i'm looking for (for the LSD service)?

Looks like it to me...maybe a few thousand miles later than it should have been, but IMHO, that is no cause for concern.
Cheers, Pickles.
