It's a great car !! 2012 coupe
Brought home 2012 coupe yesterday. Never even touched one before yesterday, let alone sat in the seat. Well, it fits like a glove. Amazing seat, steering wheel, great power, cool tranny, I got almost 22mpg on the 360 mi trip home. Details the new buyer wants to know: I found it on cars.com from a Boston dealer, 1800mi CPO , $62,000 initially , then was reduced to $60,000 automatically, due to being on the lot several weeks. It was pretty much as I would have ordered it: base power, no lsd, +Command, +walnut trim, lane tracking, keyless go, No big money options. I got CPO extended to 6yr/120,000 for $2100 extra. It was my colors: silver /black. The dealer Flagship motorcars was initially difficult to deal with- high pressure sales guys, but the dealership has a "Saturn type pricing" , the price is the price. No haggle, though the extended warranty was reduced after they put some miles on the car- they didn't keep the website updated.
Never thought I'd be a MB guy. But started looking at a R350 Diesel , cause I dig diesels, AWD and room for my big dogs. Couldn't find what I wanted , then they stopped production. Hmmm how about E63 wagon- wow , $$$$.. No C63 wagon ( once owned Audi S4 wagon- great car).
I only recently learned how great the CPO warranty can be. SO when I saw this car on cars.com I made a call. A bunch of consumer BS followed, but I would not want to sell cars for a living, these guys hear BS all day long from tire kickers. I did the deal phone only. Very nice salesguy Rob Slocum picked me up at a small airfield after getting a lift from a friend in his cool twin. 90 mins later I was motoring home.
I think the "deal" with the C63 is a stripper like mine. If I was going to spend $80k, I was going to spend $100k and get a GT3 Pcar.
Selling a well sorted vette that I put together with all the best stuff for track days. I will put 15,000-20,000mi/yr on the AMG commuting. No track.
I found non factory rotors available for cheap for the this car. I tend to wear out pads/rotors as I commute on some nice twisty roads. The P31 rotors are OEM only and $$$. SO I can drive this thing for 120,000mi with no major surprises.
I had also considered CTS-V Wagon and new RS5.
In conclusion, I like the looks of this car alot, it feels great, it's a "sleeper"- I like that . No bling, no colored rotors.
I have a bunch of techno questions about the Command and look forward to getting it all set-up.

70-110 mph is priceless. Had no idea. And 20 mpg on the highway. I will not be reserving the use of this car for special drives. I will commute daily and only be stopped by the snow. Tranny is superb, interior is perfect, steering wheel and seat perfect. Feels like a fitted suit. No time to keep typing as I have to work, but I go way back to my teenage years when the early 1970's 300SEL 6.3's came out, then the 450 SEL based 6.9's, SO, this 6.3 represents real history in motoring when MB made really special cars for a select few, never ever did I think I'd be of the select few. Thank You AMG.
