Tyre/Tire experts please help

Hey guys, the front tyres on my C63 were recently changed with Continental tires. I've been quoted new $450 new each for the 2 rear ones (19 inch OEM). I live in Dubai so tyres are a little more expensive over here I think.

So that's basically $900 for the two.

Now I've come across a guy selling 4 new BNEW 19inch AMG C63 replica rims with 4 Continental tires. The Continental tires are in excellent condition with very little wear.

The front two werre made in June 2011 (don't know when purchased) and the rear two were made in September 2010 (don't know when purchased). If I go for this option, I get 2 front tyres, 2 rear tyres and the 19inch replica rims. I get all that for $1040. so an extra $140 dollars gets me 4 rims and 2 front tires over the new tires which are $900.

I can probably then sell the replica rims for around $350-400 for the set of 4.

Is it a no-brainer to get the used, but very good condition ones. Is it OK the rear 2 were manufactured approximately 2 years ago?

Please help and advise. THANKS

Here's the link to the replicas with tires http://tnydu.biz/DPfZ2H

The condition of the tires is what is most important. Two year old tires by their age alone are not a problem.

Have you thought about buying from tirerack and getting them to ship to your place? Tyres cost a fk tonne in Australia too (a set of PSS would be ~$2.4k). But many of us buy from tirerack and get it shipped over for almost 1/2 the price.

Thanks Case1906.

Thanks sbce90. Do you have a website for tirerack? How much does this shipping set you back if you don't mind me asking?

It is just tirerack.com

Shipping for 4 tyres is usually around ~$300 or so to Australia.

Thanks mate - one last question. If I am riding contis on the front, does it matter if I ride a different brand on the rear or is it best to keep all 4 the same? Don't think it makes much difference but want to be sure.

Cheers

Should be ok. I have oem contis front and pss rears atm. Fronts wear half as fast. Just match them when the time comes.
