Help: H&R Coilover Problem
Hey Guys,
I installed my H&R Coilovers on Monday.
Yesterday I took my car on they highway to do some RaceLogic timing.
When I go above 140km/h the car starts shaking like crazy - the steering wheel and the whole car.
I had the car alligned, wheels are not bent, I have new dunlop tires.
I did not experience the shakes before the install.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?
I'm going to take it back to the shop where I installed the coils in a few hours.
Thanks for the input,
Matt

Sorry to hear about your shaking problem Matt. Are your wheels hubcentric? What I mean is the shop might have forgot to re-install your hubcentric rings when they did your coilovers?
Otherwise, something might be lose on ur coilovers. Keep us posted about the problem & good luck!

I'm not using hubcentric rings.
I just came back from the shop and they double-checked everything - seems fine.
The allignment is correct as well.
The last answer to my problem are probably the tires...

Worn tires aren't going to make your entire car shake all of a sudden.
Unbalanced wheels could. They might have knocked a balancing weight off the inside of the rim. Check that out and take the wheels for a balancing.

Thanks for the help guys.
I found out what the problem was but it took me the whole day.
After checking the suspension I checked the wheels. They were well balanced except for one wheel.
We could here something was inside the tire... After the tire was taken of the rim, this is what we saw. The whole runflat enforcement of the tire was ripped off and was flying inside of the wheel. The tires were new (prod. 2011) so I hope I can replace them under warranty.
Luckily it didn't blow up on the highway yesterday night while I was having fun with the RaceLogic.

Runflat tires are the worst.
They wore so badly on my stock sport suspension 335i.
Take all of them off and replace them with non runflat tires.

Matt it does sound like you should dump the run-flats if you can and get regular tires.
What a pain in the a$$ and good work getting it figured out.

I needed tires that run narrower than P-Zeros and Yokohamas so I chose the Dunlops Sportmaxx GT.
I didn't even know they were runflats
Never thought this would be a downside to them.
I can only fit narrow tires in the size 245/30/19 with this drop and these wheels.
Any suggestions?
