we live in a small and scary world
i was checking worldcarfans.com earlier, which is something i do often, when i saw pictures of a totaled GT2 RS. I recognized the car, it belonged to a fellow student at GWU. He traded it in for an SLS, but the second owner of the car seems like he passed in this horrible accident, i wrote about it on my blog here
http://www.wesbait.com/cars/porsche-gt2-rs-totaled/
supposedly he crashed at 160mph, which is soo scary considering ive reached those speeds before, everyone please be more careful out there.

You know the guy with the SLS? Is it a black one with a red interior? A friend of mine is friends with him- if it is indeed the same car.
That accident is quite scary. These machines are much more capable than we are at controlling them in most circumstances.

I am so sorry and cringed at the thought. I too have taken my 63 to that speed, and
past it as well. Not bragging, but I've hit 180mph. Really makes me think about taking it easy. My thought process has changed..............

Really? It had the opposite effect on me, I thought everything else is slow after that experience. And if you think that's crazy in a car, try it on a bike.

Sorry Esam doesn't ring any bells for me. I honestly don't know what my friend friend's name is with the SLS. I just remember he showed me a picture of one parked in the middle of a Boston street at night with the doors open. Was so badass.

I was just mentally affected by the pics of that wreck and it made me pause and rethink my driving. Life is so fragile and going out crumpled in an automobile doesn't sit well with me. I feel for his/her family and that person as well. Conditions need to be taken into account if we choose to hammer our cars down.
I hope everyone stays safe. Take care.

Many years ago I hit 270kms on my modified YZF R1.....
The scariest rush I've ever had. Sold the bike 5 days later. Haven't been back on a bike since.
Though I am liking the Ducati Monsters....
Be safe out there!

I wonder what he hit. Speed does not kill, it is the sudden stop. Thanks for the reminder, makes us all think.

I did euro delivery on my CLS63, set the cruise control at Max speed 200kph(125mph). After that, 150 mph running was easy.
Nothing like Sunday morning run from Nuremberg to Zurich , via Stuttgart.

Seriously, even "as low as a 100" can kill on the wrong road. And any road you don't know very well can be the wrong road, even a highway.
People underestimate what a small dip in the road can do at high speeds to a driver of any skill. A small launch can make you lose control very quickly.
Be smart, not blindly brave.
