Dash lit up like a Christmas tree

BACKGROUND INFO: 2009 C63, just hit 77K kms and getting very near the end of warranty. Car has been, more or less, trouble free, never leaving me stranded (rear sunshade stopped working - fixed, had the missing coolant issue that was partially dealt with back at 50K kms but I'll leave that for another thread).

Car sat for a couple of days as it was a rainy weekend so being a nice day out, I finally get to drive it after having the KW V3s put in last Friday. Cold start, everything normal, got out of the underground parkade and then, not too long after turning out of the driveway, dash warning lights up with: "PBR, ESP & Cruise Inoperative, please see owner's manual" and the steering gets really heavy - feels like I lost power steering too. Put on the hazards and shut the engine off with the electrics still running. Fired it back up, all is normal, started rolling out again and 2 seconds later, same warning and steering gets really heavy again. Shut it down completely (all electricals off this time) and restarted the car, everything normal so I drove off slowly, waiting for a possibility that it'll happen again but to my surprise, I continued off to work without any more issues.

Anyone else have this happen before or can shed some light on the issue I had?

Sounds sorta like a failing CPS?

Sorry, not familiar with CPS. I'm assuming it's a sensor of sorts?

If you're still under warranty, get the codes and see what your computer is saying. Is it particularly hot where you live or where the car is stored?

Crank Position Sensor.

My car would stumble like you described occasionally. Then it wouldn't start when the car was hot.

Replaced the sensor (50-75 bucks online) (150-190 from the dealer) and all is well.

Thanks for the responses. It has gotten cooler these past couple of weeks and it isn't particularly warm where the car is parked so high heat definitely has nothing to do with it. Car didn't exhibit any weirdness before the dash warnings so it has German electrical gremlins written all over it. Always hard to diagnose but yeah, I hope codes were stored so I can let the dealer figure it out. Problem is, I have a track day planned this weekend....argh!!

"Crank Position Sensor"?!!...Had a Holden Commodore years ago that wouldn't start......I'd driven to a business appointment, & upon leaving....the car wouldn't start. Couldn't work it out, couldn't start it, so rang my Dealer's Service Manager who I knew very well.....he told me to get a jug of cold water & throw it over the front of the engine??!!!.....I thought he was crazy...but I did so.....and bingo.....it started!
And yes, it was the crank angle sensor.....apparently, getting cold water on it, "shocked" it into working again.....had it replaced shortly after.
Cheers, Pickles.

Is the CEL on now? Definitely get the code(s) read, should be P0335 if it's the CPS.

P0335

My EVO did something similar and it was the steering angle sensor - replaced it fixed the problem.

The weird thing is, the CEL is not on and there are no messages on the dash. It's like it never happened, hopefully there are codes stored.
