Get quality parts from rockauto.com for dirt cheap.

Jack the car up
Circled red part is where you place your floor jack to jack up the entire front of the car
Take off the panel on the bottom
Find the Sump
Locate drainplug
Loosen oil filter housing and unscrew oil cap
Unleash the kraken
Remove old oil filter
Unpackage new oilfilter
Feed the beast
Oil filter cap 25Nm or 18.4 ft lbs.
Oil drain plug 30Nm or 22.1 ft lbs.
Oil filter cap is 32mm

Ok, so I've always known we're suppose to use this thicker viscosity. But every Mobil1 5w40 oil I've seen is for diesel engines? Am I looking at the wrong kind or is there another Mobil1 5w40 that's made for non-diesels??

That's just reflection from the flash from my camera.
I do oil changes every 10k km, rather do it more often then to take the extra hour to flush out an extra 1l of used engine oil.

That is not the correct 5W40 to use in a C63... we use it in our diesels
You need 5W40 Formula M which can only be purchased at Mercedes Benz dealerships.

Ok, no wonder! I've been to every Walmart, Target, O'Reillys, etc. and have not found this oil. Well, it doesn't matter anymore since I've been using Redline anyways. But good to know where I can get it.

Well, I will stick with the 0W-40 which has a greater level of wear inhibitors. MB changed to improve life of the emissions system
One little interesting thing I found, is to make sure the filter element is well attached to the cap. If it detaches, it will not lift from the drain plug at the bottom of the filter housing and make a complete mess when the cap releases. I had enough paper towels to catch about half of what ended up spilling out. What a pain to remove another panel to clean up.
Good DIY!

I won't go any further with the details because there are a lot, but this is coming straight from my independent guy who worked as a master service adviser for MB for 20 some odd years. So the reason for the changes in oil may be the EPA stepping in and saying what is allowed to be used. Just my 2 cents...again, this may or may not be true.

There are threads where all of this has been discussed.
