renntech ecu vs. evosport
I plan on doing a tune and was curious as to what your experiences have been results wise between the two. Although cost is not really much of a concern, if the difference is negligible i'd love to hear opinions. I'd also love to know if there are any warranty advantages to going with Renntech as I still have 2 years left on my factory warranty plus a year of CPO.

Warranty goes out the window. But they have to prove the mod caused the issue. If your engine goes then good luck, but obviously if your xenon light goes out they will cover it.
You better find a good mod friendly dealer or make sure you get the newer handheld flasher, since if you dont tell the dealer when you take it for service and they hook it up they will update it if it has an update and it will wipe the tune. This just happened to me and I have to send mine back for a reflash, since my company I went with doent sell a handheld tuner yet.
And just about all the tunes are the same, I wouldn't go with the guy who claims the biggest gains as I worry about how far they are pushing it. Go with the biggest company and oldest one you can find, be careful of out of the house tuners who steal others tunes and sell them for a tad cheaper but end up giving people trouble.

I went with a RennTech custom dyno-tune, done at RennTech's former West Coast HQ (Dyno-Comp of Scottsdale, AZ). My dealer is "RennTech friendly" largely due to their positive experience with a number of RennTech cars and RennTech's long-standing track record overall. (Of course ultimately that may mean squat when push comes to shove). The tune took 1.5 days and numerous dyno runs because I had some very specific things that I wanted done. I'm exceptionally happy with the results. If you went with a RennTech/MBH setup I'm sure you would benefit greatly from my files. That said, given the state of the tune marketplace these days there is no doubt RennTech is needlessly overpriced. If I were on a tighter budget right now I would go Eurocharged or OE and not crack the ECU.

2012c63amg, very interesting info. i bought a 2004 cl600 with a renntech tune that cost $6400 back in 2004. the original owner had trans problems and mb refused to cover the trans because of the tune. cost him $12000 to put a new cl63 trans in. my question is, is there any way of telling if my tune was compromised? i'm the second owner and the car has mostly been serviced at dealers. there aren't any parts in the engine, or car that say renntech, or look modded. is it possible that my tune is different than the newer ones and has some type of internal chip that can't be reprogrammed. any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
p.s the tune on dyno gave me 517.3 max power and 631.3 max torque

i agree.....and for an extra $500 i can tell Steve to do your tune on my spare ECU that he has so you can always keep your OEM ecu with OEM tune
you take your car to the dealer with your ECU and when you leave , replace it with the spare ECU with Weistec's tune and enjoy the new power
PM me if interested . you won't be disappointed
