CEL on and went off after refueling
Hey guys
I have a 09 with 20k miles 2 days ago my cel went on and I was quite worried
I was about to take it to the dealer today and was topping off the gas before going there. Cel went off when I topped the gas tank :S
Has this happened to anyone here I called the dealer they said its common with the car around my mileage to have cel on when fuel level is low.
Thanks a lot

My car only likes Exxon for some reason.. I've learned to live with it.
There's a Shell by me that I used to use, got a CEL after a while.. Switched back to Exxon, no problems.. Tried a Hess near me one day too, another CEL.. Switched back to Exxon the next fill up and again no problems.. Since then I try to stick with Exxon or if I need gas right away, I only put like 1/4 tank but no more than 1/2 tank until I hit an Exxon..

Do a general search here and I am sure you will find its an across the board problem. This used to happen on my older pre 2000 benzes never really had trouble with the newer ones.
Has something to do with vapor pressure in the gas tank and is emissions related.

Evaporative system has sensors that monitor the pressure and if it notices a leak in the system it triggers the CEL.
Leaving the gas cap loose makes the system think there is a leak and would be my guess at what happened

Not for anything but these area are smarter by the day. Don't you just miss the old school way 5.0 blower and a 5speed?
Man those were good times.. And when we had cold nights we loved taking the cars out for that few extra HP due to the cold air

I may have not been around for those days but the cold night air still makes cars run MUCH stronger and is a great time!
