Hi guys. I bought a 2010 C63 yesterday trading my E55. I have a few questions.

When I drive in M mode my manual gear changes from 1st to 2nd seem to be ignored if its a race start with the revs continuing on to red line. It does not happen in any other gear, only 1st to second. Other gears I can blip on the paddle and it does as it should. Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? Whats your recommendation for the perfect race start? A few questions there I know. Any advice is appreciated.

Try shifting from 1>2 at ~ 6000rpm. The engine is increasing rpms too fast and you will hit the limiter if you don't shift early enough. On all shifts in M you will need to shift a little early to allow for shift lag but more so on the 1>2 shift. You may be able to shift at a little higher rpm but will need to figure it out by trial and error.

Race start is only on 2012+ cars with MCT transmission..


When you are in race start which requires sports traction setting it puts the car into S+ mode and wont let you select M mode. And you are correct it will ignore you. Sometimes mine short shifts out of 1st gear other times it redlines, depends on the grip.

The car does not have "race start". Probably a bad choice of words. I was discribing the driving style when the problem occurs. Flat out from standstill through the gears. Drag strip style.

Thanks Mort that sounds like the issue I'm having. I did notice significant gear change lag. I'll try changing up a bit earlier from first to second and see how that goes.
