For those that left Mich PSS & Conti 3 or 5......
Hey-
For those that have left Mich., Conti, and Pirelli for Hankook tires. Just wanted some opinions on 2 specific Hankook tires, the Ventus R-S3 and Ventus V12 evo K110. I have been through many tires and brands and have just started looking at the Hankook line. As much as our C63's eat tires, I was wondering if the Hankook's have decent performance. I have researched several posts and reviews from C&D and Motortrend. I just wanted some real world opinions from C63 specific vehicles, from you guys whom I trust and have put some miles on them. The price point seems great, the R-S3 are the more expensive of the two, but just wanted to hear from you guys as I am in the need of some rears. And badly!! My 63 came with Pirelli's and I have swapped with both the Conti's, all that the dealer would put on, and the Mich PSS, which I chose myself form Discount.
How many miles are you guys seeing? What is the ride like? I know that they are crap in the wet, but it hardly rains or gets wet in Austin, so a UHP is all that I need down here. What are the outside edges like. Basically, if you have Hankoon's, either model, I'd love to hear your experience. I would probably go back to the PSS, but I can go through 2 sets of the Hankook for the price of one set of the PSS. Thanks guys!!

Just go get the PSS from sears, have them match the price online -10%. When you're done with the tires, give a call to michelin and tell them that your tires only lasted 6000 miles... they'll give you credit for the rest... that's what I've been doing for the past few months... It only costs me $200 to replace my rear tires

I have had pss on for about 3000 miles and they are by far the best tire I have used as far as a performance street tire. The stock setup with the p zeros I would always get a little sideways on roads I would rip it on and since I have changed to the pss the grip has been phenomenal. Although it would be hard to say for sure its 100% due to the pss as I did change wheels and suspension with the purchase of the pss but its night and day. As far as driving in the rain I haven't had much expierence with them in the rain but from the reviews they seem to be highly recommended. Only thing most people complain about is they are a bit bulky but I like the look of them, very agressive looking tire on concave wheels IMO

PSS FTW... especially with the warranty... and most people getting less than 10K for their tires! Hankook is a great tire when warm... but nowhere near the grip of the PSS. And with the warranty... by your 2nd set... the PSS cost equal to to Hankooks!
Peace,
Dave

What if you never have to worry about rain, then which tire? I live in AZ and if it does rain my car will be in the garage and I will be in the Flintstone car.
I have read so many reviews and think I still have no clue what to get. Anyone have experience with Vredestein, a lot of positive feedback on some of the bimmer forums.

Guys,
Thanks for the response's. But if you will check the original question, I am asking about the Hankook's. I am on PSS right now and have had the other's mentioned in the title.
I am asking for those that ARE on V-12/RS3, how they would stack or rate them to PSS/Conti 3 or 5. I am looking for Hankook info, not more tire reviews on the others. I have that info and knowledge.

I don't recall anything here on the S3 but there's been plenty of discussion about the V12. The consensus is that it's a reasonable value but a pretty average performing tire. Search it...

I had Hankook Ventus v12's on my E55 ( I know you're looking for C63 response, but my E55 had nearly 700TQ) two sets before I sold it. Comparing them to Conti contact pro DW's they wouldnt hook unless it was 75-85 degrees outside. Cold weather they couldnt hook and 90+ degrees they would slip all to hell. It was a good thing I live in California and my temps stayed around 75-85 degrees 75% of the time.
All in all I believe they are a good bang for the buck tire, but I wouldnt use them if I planned to track the car or had crap weather.

For whoever who's interested in getting Michelin Warranty, you have to do these steps:
1. Have the tires installed at a michelin certified dealer (like sears.
2. Have them document the mileage when they put the tires on.
3. When the tires are bald, go back to the place where you had the, installed.
4. Sears will inspect the tires and call Michelin for you and give them your current mileage.
5. Michelin will give you a prorated credit. If your tires are finished after 7000miles, they will give you credit for the 23 000 mileage.
Normally, the warranty is only for 15,000 miles if you don't rotate the tires but they always forget and give you a 30,000 warranty.
I've done this 3 or 4 times. Always make sure to tip the guy at sears ($20, or $40). If your tires are worn unevenly, michelin will decline the warranty (happened to me). So make sure your tires are really bald before going to sears, or just take care of the guy there. He'll call michelin for you, order the new tires and you can take your time to finish your old tires and then go back to sears to have the new ones installed.
BTW, in order to use the Michelin warranty, you have to run OEM sizes, otherwise no warranty. So if you're running 275 on the rear, forget about it.
Sorry for the grammar, hope it's clear for everyone

I forgot to mention that you get a warranty on the new tires that they will give you
Also, michelin something called michelin promise plan. You can do whatever you want to the tires for the first 30 days and you can have them replaced right away, no questions asked.

I have an LSD and grip is not an issue. I am not asking about grip. Asking about Hankook tires, period. That's it. But I'm done. It seems useless, as I'm trying to get help from my brothers' here, but no one cares to read or respond directly to the question at hand.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Switched from the Hankook Ventus V12s to Michelin PSS just this past summer and difference is night & day. While the V12s are undeniably cheap & a decent value, they simply don't stack up in terms of performance & handling confidence when compared to other tires and especially the PSS. Granted, they are quite a bit cheaper but I guess that's where the extra $ goes.
I considered the RS-3s briefly but we get considerable rain and despite my penchant for all out performance, I steered away from them as I prefer my C63 to ride a bit smoother so I went with the PSS.

Well, my PSS are completely gone now. Need to get tires tomorrow. Didn't get any real useful feedback from anyone running RS3, that CAME FROM PSS or Conti so I will wait tonight and hopefully get some feedback.
Not about how good PSS are. I know, I was just on them.
Not about how Conti is great, I've had them.
I need anyone that went FROM PSS/Conti to Hankook.
Anyone??
Surely someone. "And stop calling me Shirley."

What are you retarded?! Why does it matter if it's before or after? And for the record, clearly very few people would run what is essentially an autocross/track tire on a heavy German sedan so you're gonna have to find out for yourself if the RS-3s are any good.
Most of us have already told you that the Evo 12s, more or less, suck so good luck Shirley.

I have been advised the V-12 were bad in the rain, but for the money okay. Damn, what blatant a$$holes!!! Sorry for trying to get some help. Fuc! I guess attitude is more important than integrity. "What are you retarded?!" You could have ignored the post, d1ck!! I will leave. Thanks.
