C63 wheel hop- suggestions
Have a C63 with LSD upgrade. Wheel hop on launch is still extreme. Is there a kit to tame that issue? Thinking of a Toms 6 link equivalent. Thanks.

Maybe you're the only one living in this physical universe.
Ive never heard of anyone complaining of wheel hop.
Ive went through probably 20 sets of rear tires and never once have I got wheel hop on the street or at the drag strip.

ow many miles on the car, could it be your rear shocks are gone? Or control arms? Different suspension parts ect. Have you had yor suspension checked lately? If all is well, start looking at upgrading your suspension. I say this because most 63's don't have wheel hop problems, even when the car is blown

I have a little "wheel hop" also from time to time (from a stop with near full throttle). 2009 with about 20,000 miles. No LCD. I sort of doubt I have worn out suspension parts. I wonder if this is normal for a C63 with no LSD?

Yes I get wheel hop with my 09 P30. Since day one under certain circumstances.
Spinning from a roll on wet cold pavement with minimal tread on Zeros just about guarantees wheel hop.
Specifically, whenever it rains during summer or wet cold pavement close to winter before I get the winters on. It was driving me nuts this fall because I was wanting to finish off the Zeros and going from 4/32's tread to zip it would hop bad anytime I broke loose from 5 km/h to about 40 km/h. It can shudder pretty hard so obviously you have to back off real quick and that kills the fun.
But I dont get it when I kick the *** sideways such as drifting and hanging it out on corners, just strait line.

I agree with you.I 'm also experiencing hard wheel hop in a straight line from a roll and a dig.Could be the cold weather and cold pavement conditions might have something to do with it?? I didn't notice wheel hop during the warmer times of the year.I have a 2012 sedan with lsd and am running 265/19 PSS on the rear. The car has less than 2000 mi on it.
Perhaps some of the senior members could give some pointers since it only seems to be us newbs that have this issue. Since wheel hop is a non issue for all the MBWorld Fanatics!, maybe we are just doing something wrong when trying to make smoke.

TC off is what creates wheel hop with street tires in my experience. Try lowering tire pressures.

Experienced this in my old 63 during cold fall weather on summer tires... chocked it up to tires trying to grip. Have not experienced this in my current car with an LSD.

That makes sense since the hopping is the tires quickly slipping/gripping at high frequency. With traction control on the engine power is cut and brakes intervene to eliminate slip. I would try to replace all bushes and mounts and shocks with new but it’s not worth that much $$$ do do a burnout, hahaha.

The only thing that truly cures wheel hop is a full polyurethane bushings conversion. Just doing a few bushing here & there will not cure it. This includes rear diff, rear control arms, trailing arms, camber arms, swaybar bushings, and most importantly the rear subframe bushings. Also Carbon fiber driveshaft will greatly alleviate these issues as well.
Depending on on the car there are usually 8-12 bushings in the rear alone and typically roughly 6-10 up front depending. You don't have to replace the fronts to eliminate wheel hop but if you want to do it right might as well do the whole car.
Budget around $1200-1800 for the full car. It may sound pricey, but I swear it is the best money you will ever spend on your car for handling and traction.
