I lkike the last line quoted from AMG head of Engines and Power Trains. "Front-drive cars are for children,"

Excellent idea, for fun I'd keep them RWD but like Fung63 said. If you buy the vehicle as your daily driver you may very well need the 4matic setup. I know living in Wisconsin I would want it and would then be willing to spend the extra money for an AMG model knowing I could drive it.

It will be more useful. The only things that will suffer will be the high speed pull, extra weight and complexity, and larger turning circle.

saddest thing I've heard all day. the only thing awd improves is 0-60 times which is only impressive on the magazine. AWD cars tend to be more dull to drive

I came very close to buying a '13 C63, but at the last minute decided on an S4 - mainly for the AWD. And I was very glad I did when I found myself in the middle of a freak snow storm a couple weeks ago! I'm looking forward to an AWD C63 as my next car.

well... tbh, the s4's engine is a lawnmower compared to the c63, that and with quattro, for sure the car will have more traction
all kidding aside... the more i think about it, the more i like it. Definitely would be a contender for my next car to replace my existing c63 lol. As long as they keep or up the hp, torque and all around awesomeness of the car!

I highly doubt they are offering 4matic on all AMGs.... They are likely doing it for people that drive in crap conditions, rainy, snow, winter, etc.
People that will buy an E63 would like to drive it year round and 4matic may keep them with the brand instead of going elsewhere.

I seriously considered a C63, but both my wife and I are essential emergency personnel and MUST be able to get in to work during snowstorms. At least one of our vehicles must be AWD.
Jag just came out with an AWD version of their vehicle line, a trade in for hers is in the near future. A 4matic C63 would definitely be my next car.

I've been lurking on this board for a couple of years, but this thread finally convinced me to join. I have been leaning towards the new M3 because I really would want a DCT. I have 2 kids and live in Boston, so 4 doors is a must and AWD would allow me to not have to keep the STi for the winter (garaging 2 cars downtown is not an insignificant expense). If the C63 goes the way it sounds the E63 is going (DCT + 4matic), I am in. My wife drives an '81 SL, so it would be nice to be an all M-B family.
