How many gallons does the C63 hold?

Nice to know this forum is lightening up...I recall just a few months ago asking questions like this and getting flamed for not reading the manual. Lol.

By the time I pulled over the needle was pretty much down to 0. And as I got the tankful, I filled some 17.1 gallons. So I am assuming I had maybe another 0.5 gallon at most.
hence, the 17.x number. 17.4 sounds totally believable.

Nice work! That was super lucky. At that rate, 1/3 gal would've gotten you 6 more miles tops. Most likely 3 in traffic.
Btw, in my '09, when the range is less than 20 miles, the range disappears and is replaced with an icon that shows you really need fuel (car with a gas pump) which I think is annoying. I know the range is low. Why replace it with a useless icon so I can't tell what the range is anymore?

No, it's not like the "reserve fuel" notification. This icon stays and it's counter productive. I get that you're not supposed to rely on that gauge because it can fluctuate so much at such a low level, but to not be able to get rid of the icon is just silly.

Just to share we you lot, over here in Brunei, petrol is BND 0.53 per litre (USD 0.424 per litre) flat rate. So I'd spend like BND 32-34 per fill up (USD 25.6-27.2).
Coming back to your question OP.. yeah 17 gallons is about right
