iPhone Bluetooth Text Message Display on COMAND
No idea when this was enabled, or if this is facelift 2012+ C classes only, but I accidently stumbled on this last night. I got a replacement iPhone and had to pair up to all my cars again and found a new option in the Bluetooth profile:
So to get this to work, you'll have to delete the phone off your COMAND, and delete the profile off your phone to start over. Pair it again to get it going, then click on the blue arrow to get to the above screen. Show Notifications will show up as off, swipe it on. Turn off your COMAND then turn it back on, and voila, Text Message isn't grey'd out anymore.
Whenever you get a text or iMessage, a email icon will show up and you'll get a beep notification. Click text message, it'll show you who sent it, click on that, and you'll see the message. Click again and it'll read the message out in a terrible robot voice.
I got it working last night in both my CBS and my CLS. It's about time Apple updated the MAP profile to support this!

2012. Nothing to do with mbrace2, this has been available for Android and Blackberries for a while. It's just Apple finally added text message support in their BT profiles, which I think was a few months ago in iOS6. I didn't know about it and just a bit late to the party. The option doesn't show up until you re-pair the phone with COMAND.

So is this an iPhone thing, or an MB thing? I only bought a BB in September to get the texts
And does it work in the UK? I shall go and have a rummage and report back!

It's an iPhone update. COMAND has always supported the text. Basically, the iPhone can do what a BB can do now with displaying and reading txt messages.
Not sure about COMAND online, we don't get it here in NA.

Email notifications are still a little wonky. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Texts seems to be all coming through tho.

OK. Tried this in Blighty (2012 C63C, carrier O2), and the SMS does indeed 'go black' (from solid) - haven't tried it yet, but thanks for the heads up!
