Mercedes C63 AMG Black Goes Matt
Just saw this, nice wrap on a C63 Black Series:
Mercedes C63 AMG Black Goes Matt
I had this same wrap done on my M6. Makes the BS look like a jet fighter.
What do you guys think?

Do the hood or trunk first and see what you think. For me, I would never do a vinyl wrap again, done it before on 2 cars, and it just doesn't look good up close. Matte clear over metallic black is all I would do, the only wrap that looks awesome up close.

I really like all of those but the one that Rage2 posted wins in my opinion, especially with the 5 spoke wheels!

Not for me.
I wouldn't wrap ANY car, let alone a classic like the CBS.
Too much maintenance, & try matching the wrap in a year or so if it gets damaged etc.
Ford released the Focus RS 500 with a flat black wrap a few years ago in Europe. MASSIVE issues from day one....most owners are getting rid of the wrap now, because of the maintenance issues, particularly with a regularly driven car.
Cheers, Pickles.

Apart from what rage said about the looks close up, vinyl is much easier to take car of than paint.
And matching the wrap if it gets damaged is easier than painting a part.

Wrapped cars look fantastic in photos, but unfortunately it's a huge pain in real life.
My buddy has had two cars wrapped, a GTR and a CLS... I was planning to wrap my GT500, but after seeing his up close I changed my mind. If you are incredibly meticulous with cleaning it, it might be alright, but if you daily drive it, or just want to give it a quick wash, any slip can damage the wrap, uneven pressure from wiping it will leave marks, and within a year it's very possible to end up with a car that looks like a mess. As was the case with a matte grey Murcielago I saw once that the owner said he had lightly driven for about a year and always hand washed with care - however it looked terrible from even a medium distance. Marks and streaks that would not go away with washing.
I don't want to sound like I'm bashing it, because I do love the look... it's just it takes a whole other level of commitment to own and maintain a wrapped car, a level that I personally don't have.

I agree with the negativity when it comes to vinyl. With matte paint protection film, it's completely different. You won't be able to differentiate between factory matte paint up close.
I wrote a huge post about it in the CLK BS comparing all 3 finishes. (Paint, vinyl, matte clear)
One huge advantage with paint protection film wrap is that maintenance is nearly zero. Car washes become super easy, no swirls as the plastic film is much more durable than clearcoat. Also, door dings rarely hit the paint, usually just tears the film, so all it takes is some paintless rent repair and a new piece of film and you're good to go. Selling the car? Take the wrap off and the paint looks as good as day 1.
I sound like a salesman haha.
Edit - here's my comparison post with pics.

Another example of paint protection film giving it a matte look: https://mbworld.org/forums/clk63-bla...tin-guard.html
+1 to what rage2 said. I'll probably never do vinyl wraps again (done them in the past). Translucent matte paint protection film wraps are the way to go.

I'll be wrapping my matte black car in satin guard - that's how good the matte paint protection film is in my opinion. The matte stock paint is notoriously difficult to deal with and to protect its uniqueness and longevity I'm deciding to guard it from chips and other things. Especially since I'll be driving it to LA and on the track.

I haven't used Premier Satin Guard, but I heard it's pretty awesome.

I've seen some satin guard in person... and it's actually very nice. It almost looks better than the stock matte paint - it has to do with the metal flakes that give it a sheen that doesn't look completely flat.

Didn't think the wing/perf option was available here in US
Saw this exact same model C63 Black Series Matte-Black w/trunk wing, darting in/out of traffic this past Monday in So CA on Wilshire blvd thru Beverly Hills area. Young dude driving w/pretty fine lady...
Pix don't do this car justice, w/wing etc made it look flat-out menacing like baby SL65 Blk Series..
