Driving without a grill?

I want to get my grill painted gloss black but dont really want to leave my car for 2 days if it is possible to drive the car without a front grill? I wouldnt be doing lots of driving pretty much just to the shop and back (30kms). Whats the worst that could happen?

Thanks!

Wouldnt I need air to get through? I guess Taping it could work. I was thinking of buying wire mesh at the hardware store and zip-tying it in.

That would also work. Or just tape it with some masking tape and leave make some holes so it can breath, even though there still is air that gets into the car.

If you're driving at reasonable / slower speeds, you will be fine. Why don't you wrap the grille? That will only take an hour at tops and you wouldn't need to go anywhere. Aslo a good wrap won't chip like paint from flying debris.

If you are worried about something flying at your radiator and damaging it, I'm not sure if tape will protect it. I'd say put some wire mesh there to temporarily protect it, or just drive slowly.

I drove home yesterday without it. I will be driving back tomorrow to have it put back on.

Shouldn't be too big a problem - I'd say be more concerned about following anyone too closely that may throw up rocks / other crap.

C
^ agreed. Shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't tailgate a monster truck
