Matt Farah is a douche. He goes out and tests a performance car and he has no idea what the performance figures are or even what tires are on the car.

Way to be prepared Matt....it's only like your job to know everything about the car you're road testing

He takes it on a canyon road and it didn't even sound like he cracked 5Grand on the tach

Well not in a straight line but you do know that the 2013 RS5 ran the C&D lightning lap in 3.04.3 and the 2012 C63 coupe ran it in 3.06.3. The new RS5 was even faster than the new M5 and M6, so it's no slouch.

The C63 Black spanked them all but it bowed to a Chevy Camaro ZL1……..really.

I think it is an awesome car but that was one of the worst reviews ever. I love my C63 and so many cars are so close now in this category that saying one is far better than the others is kind of silly. Although at the and of the day the C63 is an AMG and not an Audi...

I am not racer just have friends that do it but isn't the flat steering wheel for racing where you actually sit very close and use the seat for some arm support. He said it was a silly feature as he rolled out in gangster style with his hand on top of the steering wheel because he ain't getting that physique anywhere close to the wheel when lowered.

If I were Audi I would ask him to not review anymore of their cars.

Most of the cars he drives he doesnt seem to care about. The only one review I saw him amped for was the Renntech CLS and the D2 CTS-V. The rest hes like "Meh... i'm not a fan."

It seems like everyone is an auto journalist these days... I don't pay attention to many of them anymore.

I watch Chris Harris because of his passion, and I read Jack Baruth because of his knowledge and humor.

That's about it.

I don't think it's that bad of a review. He was pretty spot on with observations. Gotta admit, the RS5 sounds kinda awesome. The C63 *is* a burnout and drift machine. Some people love that about the C63 (myself included), but I've met people that like stable power to the ground and would prefer something like the RS5.

I think Matt is a much better car reviewer than he was a year ago. I don't need a list of facts, I can look those up, I want some entertainment and personality and I think he's pretty decent at that. He's MIIIILES behind Chris Harris and of course the BBC TG trio, but he's in that category below them and above the C&D/Motortrend snore machines.

As for the RS5, in person it's more attractive than in pictures and videos. A really great looking car! Better looking I dare say than the M3 and C63. Unfortunately, it falls awkwardly between them; the M3 is "pure" performance and the C63 is "pure" entertainment. I guess you could argue that the RS5 gives you a happy balance between the two, but I would disagree because the other two are already happy balances and just give you more joy for doing what they do better.

the new RS5 is hot. i had the privilege of swapping cars for a day and driving one. it is very nice. i did miss the C63 sound but the interior is so much better and it is still a very quick car in daily driving circumstances. the rs5 sound is no slouch, that is for sure. my dislikes are mainly that an optioned RS5 is overpriced (IMO) and i don't care for the size of the grille mesh.

i'm in the market for a new M/AMG/RS and, for my money, there is too much on the near horizon to change up now. i'll wait and see how the new FI m3 pans out as well as official pics of the new c63

Love the RS5 as well... but I love Audi's too. Have an RS4. But it doesn't feel as fun to drive as the C63 Coupe that I test drove once. Partly why I never even considered the RS5 after I test drove one. Doesn't feel as raw as the RS4 and the C63. Yeah it's probably faster around a track - can't deny that. But for overall fun and pride of ownership, I'm still taking the AMG route... now, I still would take my 6speed manual RS4 over the C63 Sedan... sorry guys.

I've never been able to really figure out what Audi RS models are good for. With previous RS generations, they had value in understatement. The current Audi design language has thrown that out the window. Extreme weather conditions perhaps? That's really applicable to a very small number of people... in fact I would argue that you could have a lot more fun, a lot easier with an M3 or C63 as soon as the weather turns a little sour if you know what you're doing.

Don't get me wrong, I like Audis, I love the look of them, I love their interiors, but I've never been able to pull the trigger on one.

I almost bought a S5 Cab a few months ago as a winter car. My C63 was my winter car for 2 years, and it's a blast to drive in the snow, but I was tired of getting blown away everytime I stopped. I preached how fun RWD cars were in the winter for years, till I picked up a 911 Turbo for winter. It's a whole different level of fun with a good AWD system. The C63 could drift in the snow day in and day out, but the 911 Turbo AWD drifted AND accelerated through corners. It was unreal.

So yea, for me, I'm looking at Audis for fun in extreme weather conditions.

Although it is done everyday, comparing a 2013 model (rs5) to what is basically the technology of 2008 (the c - ok i get the dct update) is a bit unfair. Rs4 and c63 are more of the same era and rs5 may be more relevant to compare with the next gen C.

I still say he is a tool. His celebrity has gone to his head.

regardless of what I agree w/ in this review, that destroys the validity of any kind of critical assessment he tries to make.

Guys, I am actually friends with Matt Farah. We went to college together. Regardless of what some of you guys say, he really is a knowledgeable journalist. He tests all sorts of cars from all different brands and he really says it how it is. That is the one thing I love about all of his reviews. He doesn't sugarcoat anything or try to keep his reviews politically correct. He will say "this car sucks *****" or "this car *******g rocks." Obviously this is just my humble opinion though. As for his daily driver, he used to have a B5 S4, then a Mini Cooper S, a Vette, and an Orange Ford Raptor. He's a cool dude. Trust me!

It seeems as though everyone is an auto-journalist now.

RS5 is a great car, albeit heavier than our cars. For lightning laps etc., let's not forget how ridiculously undertired the C63 is. The RS5 was still slower on Hockenheim than the C63 and the C63 ran the 'ring in 8.01 with its crappy stock tires while the RS5 was 2 secs faster and the M3 4 secs slower (although with a 6spd, not DCT).

I'm not sure why people ride the RS5 so hard. It's a great car - not exactly as raw as the C63 or RS4, but still a great car. And beautiful.
