pretty sure I just cracked a wheel.. awesome.
i was doing some errands earlier. i went over an RR crossing twice. i certainly dont recall hitting any debris.
i parked and came back and my drivers side rear wheel was down to 26 from 38 suddenly. i brought it back up to 37 and it held there. i felt around the tire for glass, a nail, a faint feeling of air escaping, etc. i couldnt feel/find anything
i was thinking that maybe if i cracked a wheel and the car was parked just so on the crack, then air could escape. is this crazy or no? i guess ill try to get in tommorrow if the tire pressure cant hold and see if the dealer can do a temp fix til i can get a set ordered

If you're losing like 1psi per 30 min it's the rim. Happened to me before... but just have the wheel inspected and you'll find out for sure.
In case you cracked, you can get a used refinished wheel from Wheels America for around $400 (wheel that was never cracked)

you gonna get raped, don't got to the dealer for a cracker rim... they won't fix it with you... they gonna ask you to buy a new one for more than 1k... Either have it welded, either get one from Wheels America, it will look brand new (literally) and they can overnight it for $50.

Same thing happened to me. I hit a pothole Ina 35mph zone, so I couldn't have been going over 40, but what I thought was just wheel damage ended up being almost $7k in front-end damage.

i have the 5 spoke 18" oem
i'm just going to get the wheel/tire checked out, there is no way i am buying anything at the dealer. ideally, id like to get it patched so that it will hold pressure while not killing me for a few days and ill buy that 19" multispoke set from c-63. ive been meaning to get a set for a long time anyway

I cracked my front passenger side rim a while ago. It can be fixed, and be perfectly safe, although I would not take it to a race track. They will eventually be relegated to winter wheel duty when I get replacement rims.
As for repair, they do not actually just weld the crack, that won't do the trick, they cut the cracked area out (if it is accessible, so needs to be on an edge), and then weld a replacement piece in. Fortunately for me, it was on the inside of the wheel, so it is not noticeable.

Sorry to hear that. It's exactly like you said, this brisk lost of air. I've cracked so many rims in my lifetime, it's ridiculous. Welding is okay, but it is weaker at that point - so it can happen again. It did to me.

I live and drive around the DC Metro area (drive from MD to VA through DC everyday for my commute). The roads absolutely suck, and spending $75 to fix a rim till I have to absolutely replace it is the plan for me. The same thing will happen to nice fancy rims, so until I move to someplace a little less harsh on vehicles, I see no sense in spending the cash right now. Hell, I could get a set of Forgestars with tires for the same price as 2 OEM 18" rims (assuming the purchase is from the dealer). Actually, the plan is to get the F14's eventually, and relegate the OEMS to winter duty.. if I end up in an area with a winter, which I am seriously trying to avoid.

Sorry to hear about your issue.. If you take it to the dealer or wherever, can you take pics of your rims?
I was about to cancel my tire/wheel insurance policy.. maybe I shouldn't now.. I drive over RR daily too with my car..
Maybe it was sign to upgrade to 19's ! (trying to look at bright side)
Did you order the rims from c-63 member yet? Was wondering if anyone has received them..

Not that hard to crack the wheel. I cracked mine getting into my garage but luckily I have a tire package so I got a brand new rim and got to keep my old cracked one.

i got a flat over the weekend, had my old summers mounted and the guy at the tireshop tells me my rim is also cracked near the bead area and is losing a lot of air. i will actually be going to my dealer probably because they have someone they source it out to, who has fixed some curb rash for me in the past for what i think to be reasonable prices. i'm hoping it can be fixed but not if it will bring up safety concerns..
worst case scenario what does an OEM AMG run these days?

Sorry to hear drawde, if not repairable u are better off buying a whole used set from members here.. They run around 2k$ with tires in the classified.
The stealership will charge u from 1k$-1.2k$ each (no tires)
