As for part numbers a quick look on the EPC says the crank (1590300001), rods (1590300020), and pistons (1590300217) are the same between the P31, BS, and SLS. I didnt check the standard C63.

The heads (1560108820 & 1560108920) are the same between the P31 and BS but the SLS has different heads (1590100020 & 1590100120). The intakes (1561410901) and cams (1560504201, 1560504301, 1560504401, 1560504501) are the same between P31 and BS but the SLS uses different cams (1590500601, 1590500701, 1590500801, 1590500901). Interestingly though they all use different blocks 1560109900 for the P31, 1560109800 for the BS, and 1590100600 for the SLS.

I'd love to know the lift and duration differences between the C63 cams and SLS cams because they run around $2550-2750 a set and from what the EPC says the C63 uses the same part number valve tappet (1560500225) ,at least my '13 P31 car does and they are around $520 a set. I also wonder what if any flow differences there are in the heads, they are more cost prohibative at over $5K a set.

Anyway I hope the part numbers are correct and clear some questions up
TTA850....Good solid info there mate.
I reckon that the ECUs would have different numbers, and maybe the exhaust manifolds for BS & P31 would be different. Any chance of checking those two items (ECU & Exhaust) for P31 & BS?!
Cheers, Pickles.

No problem, interesting results actually. The PCM's carry the same part number (1569003000) because the differences are in the actual program. The exhaust manifolds (1561400009 & 1561400109) and the cats (2044901047 & 2044901147) are the same in both P31 and BS but the cat back pipes are different. 2044900860 and 2044900960 for the BS which btw does not come with tips, the tips are actually considered part of the bumper from what I understand part numbers 2314900127 and 2314900227. The P31 cars come with 2044903521 and 2044903621 which has tips on it.

Thumbs up

AWESOME info mate. I thought the exhaust manifolds may have been different.....just shows how good all these items are.
So, it's fair to say that P31 & B.S. engines are the same, except for the tune?
Thanks, Pickles.

well that's strange considering i had my p31 coupe tuned by the same people and came out with far less power. what's up with that?

The crankcase is different in the black in that it doesn't have the vent holes between cylinders, whereas the P31/non P31 block does.

i drive them all, fast and hard
vic , took a while but finally a tune

your dynojet numbers with tom are around 460 or so right, so it seems the pre tune dyno dynamics is pretty close to the other dyno.....i wonder what the numbers would be at eas post tune....

besides that, how does it drive differently, is the change significant like with the TT cars, or more subtle

Great question--- it wasnt like your car was done on a different day. When I got there your numbers were still on the screen- I had just missed you.

I like dynos for perspective and for tuning they are a tangible way to measure what was done right then and there but my favorite dyno is the street dyno.

NO chance does it change like a turbo tune--- its subtle but noticeable. The car jumps more in lower gears and up top it pulls harder but its only noticeable because Ive driven my car enough. 20hp net at the wheels is not huge but its a gain none the less. My car at Tom's (EAS) dyno'd 451 at the wheels so its relatively close. The car is strong no doubt and I broke it driving it the right way; hard up and down the rpm ranges to push the seals out. Im not sure if this helped my numbers but I do believe in the "hard break in" method versus the pampering that is often advised off the dealer lot.

Vic first of all great number your car is running strong !!

i couldnt agree more on the break in procedure buddy. I mean have you seen what AMG does in the factory before they send there engines out haha i never got the whole baby your car to a certain mileage. I did a burnout out WOT redline shift right out the dealership haha but i agree that it helps everything seat to the maximum potential. The black series seems to run strong ! I have a non p31 coupe that a drove the t1ts off for 2000 miles than added EC Tune, Evosport UD Pulley, and TTM Airbox(like ROW) with BMC filter and charcoal delete. I put down from 460 on a run where timing was pulled to best of 474 so we have very similar numbers but you dont have the UD pulley i guess those lighter internals are worth something after all ! Currently have the car in for secondary cat delete and going to re dyno. I will try to attach dyno sheets
