C63 too quiet?
Hello, I currently have primary & secondary cat delete along with a resonator delete with x-pipe and stock mufflers. The car is crazy loud on cold start and WOT but after that it is very quiet at idle, even partial acceleration is not that loud. Is there something that is making the car so quiet?
Reason I am asking is I drove me friend's e92 M3 with a cat delete and exhaust, his car is extremely loud at idle, partial acceleration, etc. Even my old Evo X was louder at idle and partial acceleration.

i was actually just going to make a thread about this...also wondering...the car is damn loud at start up and accelerating but at idle its so quiet! I dont mind it most of the time but I think it would be cool if it idled a little louder. my friend just got a zl1 and that car idles real loud even though if I rev my car is way louder....

I really think its the cams, I saw this M6 parked in an indoor parking before. Her idling was like loud as our cars stepping on it -.- freaking awesome but irritating after 5 min.

When the car is starting up there is some sort of pump/device that's open... you'll notice after about 30 seconds to a min the rpm drops and it gets quite. Cams will help give you a more radical idle and a more of a vintage muscle car sound if they are setup to do so.

WTF primary cat and secondary cat and resonator delete and not loud enough
Did you have to do any ECU remap when you did the primary cat delete? Is there any oxygen sensors that set of warning lights and codes or?
Thanks

Maybe MBenz purposely made our cars idle quiet to keep the classiness.

You need to remap to get rid of the codes, my CEL is currently on because of the primary cat delete.

Even with headers it wont idle loud. But it will rattle your teeth and everyone around you at WOT and Cold star.
This isn't a 1969 Pontiac Firebird with a 455CI and aggressive cam.
Its a modern car with variable cam shafts. At cold start the exhaust cam is adjusted to let some of the unburned mixture into the exhaust so it warms up the cats quicker. At warm idle, the cams are adjusted for emissions and smoothness.
