maintenance with low mileage '09

i recently purchased a CPO '09 C63 w/ OE LSD and it has 1200 miles. the selling Mercedes dealership did the brake fluid, changed the oil/filter (prior to taking the vehicle for sale, 10/12) and did the 2k mile LSD fluid change right before i picked it up.

the four year service includes several things including trans oil/filter change. i guess i just do it at some point in 2013 to adhere to the recommendations, would you agree? i only plan on putting about 5k on the car this year, max, but the oil was changed 10/12 so i guess sometime in October i'll be at the year mark for the oil so i'll do the trans stuff then.

i'm a used oil analysis dork but i don't see the point with this car. i'll just change the oil every year.

I thought trans service was 65k? (I know your mileage is super low, but in any event, trans service wasn't needed at the 4 year mark?). And before I get flamed, no, I did not check the manual, but I was told by the stealership that trans was to be serviced at 40k, but was told by 2 indies that it wasn't (65k).

And yes, service intervals are miles or time, whichever comes first, so I would do the services at the proscribed time points to stay within warranty.

MB service interval book for model year 09 says 40k/four years for C-Class trans...fluid/filter.

guess it's time to change my tranny fluid and filter then, lol. what about our factory LSD's? do we treat that the same as the service intervals for the "rear diff"?

i'm not sure about the semantics but i do know that the LSD-equipped AMGs are specifically rx'd a "rear differential fluid" change at 40k/four years per the same book. luckily they did mine for the 2k service so i'm square for the four year service too, lol. that sounds crazy!

Perhaps...The issue with the factory LSD is that it uses friction plates which deposit material in the diff fluid as they wear out. So it depends on how hard you drive it.

i don't follow.

it's an '09...so this year is the four year service requirement.

however...like i said in my first post, they did the 2k mile LSD service prior to me picking the car up last week.

the service is due in 2013 and they did it in 3/13

so i'm square.

Hi Builthatch,

How much did you end up buying it for?

Best,
Sunny

By any chance did you happen to purchase the car from Doylestown PA (Keenan)? I had looked at the 09 c63 there and I believe they were asking for 51k. How much did you end up buying it for?
