Need Purchase Advice - 2010 C63 AMG w/ 40k miles
Hey guys,
As the thread title states, I ran across a 2010 C63 AMG with ~40k miles. Here's the background information:
- Listed at $45k
- Well maintained per CarFax(service performed every ~10k miles)
- Has: Premium 2 PKG, AMG Seating PKG, Multimedia PKG, Keyless-go
I have two questions for you:
1) Seeing as the price IS flexible, what would you guys realistically offer for this vehicle if you were in my place?
&
2) 40k just seems like a lot of mileage on a 2 year old car. I don't really know how the previous owner drove it either, but by all indications, it seems like it was very well taken care of. What are the common issues that tend to arise around that mileage?
Thanks in advance to those of you who'll take the time to reply,
I'd really appreciate it!

It all depends on the supply and demand of the car and how long the car's sat in the dealer's inventory. If it's sat for awhile the dealership might be more inclined to move the car even at a loss. In addition, the price the dealership paid for the car also is a factor. If they bought the car cheap then you might get a good deal, but if they had to perform services and replace items to get the car to a sellable state, then it will cost more.
40k miles is a lot for a 2 year old car but keep in mind that the 2010 model years came out in 2009 so it could be 3 years technically. That many miles means it was probably driven perhaps on the freeway (Check the overall MPG to figure that out). A MPG in the high teens will indicate mostly freeway driving while a low one may indicate local driving. As long as the services were performed on time and there is still remaining warranty, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Do look out for the head-bolt issue though as it's a 2010 and some still used the old design.

^^ very well said.
As for the negociating price, it doesn't hurt to start low & go up a little (i.e 35K$ , but aiming for 39K$ or 40K$) cuz 40K miles for a 2010 is on the higher side.

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it. Delivery was in fact taken late 2009.
Yeah, this is what I was initially leaning towards as well. Especially once I started factoring in registration, title fees, shipping costs, etc. It's going to add up quickly.
Any other input would only help.

work it baby...
Hey Legacy,
I have seen this one around CL for at least 1 month and it's FSBO. It only has like 25k miles and may be a better deal for you.
I am not ready to make a decision on which C63, although if I was I would have considered it...

I would also recommend to look for one CPO or extended warranty if possible. 40k miles give you 10k or 1 year left depending on your driving which is not enough unless you want to keep this beast for only 1 year?

So it looks like they countered my offer of 38.5k w/ 43k as their bottom-line.. so much for that. Thanks for everyone's input. Looks like I'll just wait it out for a low mileage one matching my specs.

Good idea to look for another low mileage car, this one was not appealing to me to begin with.
Don't rush it, u will find the right deal/car if u r patient enough.
