Improving Airflow to Intake

I was thinking would it be beneficial at a dragstrip to remove the top section of the grill that is held in by a number of screws?

When the top piece is removed you can clearly see the intake and I can imagine at speed air would be shoved into the intake much easier as opposed to have the unnecessary fin/grille.

Just do it man no harm in trying - but I'm inclined to believe that there are far too many variables with your launch at drags which can easily negate any positive impact the airflow may have.

Would there be any harm if the top section of the grill was removed (like in the picture above), but used for daily driving?

Thats fine. It will only allow more air in.

it's really just a cosmetic piece, removing it is both easy and wont damage your car while driving
