After Market Brakes for 2009 C63

Hello,
I'm sure this topic would have been discussed in the past but I'm looking for a current recommendation.
I currently live in Edmonton Alberta Canada and my dealership has quoted me over $2400 to replace my brake pads and rotors (front and back) for my 2009 C63. Is there an after market option for these parts?

Please let me know a website I can order these parts from and any expertise dealing with this online company and the after market parts they sell.

Thanks

In payment for your expertise I have provided some pictures of my ride for your viewing pleasure!

You don't have the P30 pack so you can get OEM rotors at a much lower price here:
http://www.parts.com/parts/2009/MERC...section=BRAKES
Front rotors cost $115 each and rear $172 each

As for the pads, go OEM or try aftermarket ones e.g. EBC yellowstuff, or Endless, or Hawk etc.

Can't believe how cheap are your brakes... Just replaced my front rotors + pads cost me $2300... Another 2k to replace the back. :/

I'm not sure about rotors but for pads, akebono's seems to be the choice due to its low brake dust and performance. I haven't tried them myself, but the oem pads generates quite a bit brake dust.

Im in Edmonton too.

Take your wheel off and get a caliper (measuring device) Measure the thickness of the rotor and compare to the min thickness that is stamped on the hat of the rotor.

You should have plenty of meat left to just throw on new pads from foryourmercedes.com Porterfield RS4. Great pads with no dust and no noise.

Check out http://www.worldclassauto.net for your service, the dealer is a complete rip off on brakes.

Its fairly easy to change the pads. $425 for new pads and maybe pay someone to put them on for you.. couple hundred more.

Great recommendations by everyone here ! if you are looking to spend similar to what the dealer offered you but instead get real UPGRADED brakes than you should look into giro disc ! They are the guys that make them for evosport so they are the 2 piece rotors that save over 40 pounds of rotational mass off your tires which is huge ! You will feel better acceleration, handling, and ride along with the better braking. Throw some Porterfield RS4's or Girodisc SS pads and you'll be good to go. Im upgrading mine in the near future just a recommendation if you want to spend a few more bucks but get a true upgrade

Get a good radar detector and dont go 50kmh over unless you know there is no pigs around.. 50 over is auto court.

Better get a traffic lawyer, you are looking at a 1000+$ fine plus 1 month suspension easy... been there done that.

i agree with going with some sort of 2-piece rotors for the weight savings. there are a few aftermarket ones out there that aren't as pricey as the MB ones. just saw some over at benzworks. can't recall the exact price, but i remember they were less than stock (but of course more than the 1-piece). plus they will sell you the brake disc part for a few hundred bucks to swap out later when you need (and reuse the hat). i tried sourcing just the disc to the P30 2-piece with no success.

Heh...I am a lawyer, and in Edmonton too! I don't do any traffic work, but I can give a tip on traffic tickets. For speed related offences, typically if you head into the courthouse prior to the court date specified on the ticket, you can negotiate the fine and demerits down. However, keep in mind that you cannot negotiate other types of offences, like tint for example, as it's a mandatory fine.

Granted, I've never negotiated a 50kmh over ticket, but for the run of the mill photo radar tickets or even if you are stopped for speeding, you can typically get the fine reduced 30-40% and at least one demerit knocked off. It takes 20 or so minutes of your time, depending on the line up.

The process is simple - when you get to the courthouse, just ask to 'speak to' the ticket. The clerk will pass the ticket onto the prosecutor, you wait until they call your name, and away you go for a quick meeting. I just typically ask for a reduction, and they look at a chart and away you go. Meeting typically lasts about 30-60 seconds only. Then you can pay the ticket right there, or pay over the phone (at least in Edmonton), or ask for time to pay. I usually just work these tickets into other occasions when I need to go the courthouse, and typically just do them for myself, family or friends. If billed out at my hourly rate, it's not worth it - but worth it to do it on your own.

Other tips to keep in mind - you have to argue the ticket at the jurisdiction in which it was issued. This can be a pain if you got it on the Henday, as parts of it fall in Sherwood Park and I think probably a portion in St. Albert's jurisdiction. A more meaningful example - a ticket from, say, Wetaskiwin must be argued there, and not in Edmonton (but if you just give in, you can pay at any Provincial Courthouse, go figure.)

Also, if you were stopped and issued a ticket, and the cop gave you a break already (and it was noted on the ticket) then you likely won't get a further break from the traffic prosecutor.

Traffic court sits everyday in Edmonton, but the prosecutor is there only until 3:00 or 4:00 if memory serves. Other courthouses may only hear traffic once a week as they do not have a dedicated traffic court.

As another aside, Merc63 I think I saw/heard your car once on Sherwood Park Freeway last spring/summer (or maybe it was two summers ago). I was quite far back, maybe 800-1000m, but the noise from the little C-Class up ahead was very loud!

Thanks again for all the replies guys.

mico730 and Merc63 we should definitely get together for a drive.
I also want to see this "Monster" Merc63 has.

Saaboteur thanks for the tips I should have posted here while ago because I've already dealt with this ticket. $1100 for the ticket, $300 for the lawyer and don't forget 6 demerits!

I can get aftermarket upgraded replacements from a few vendors for you guys. Let me know if you're interested, it wouldn't be as cheap as the OEM parts linked to in here but it would be less then the dealer wants and would be considered an upgrade!

Let me know!
