got my front spoiler scratched/cracked at the dealer..
need your opinion and/or advise on this.. or what to do..
i had my car serviced at the dealership and this afternoon the SA called to ask about if i already have the scratch or crack at the carbon fiber spoiler as it seems now (either the tech or the SA) have just noticed/see it.
i told him that if its underneath and i don't see it (that is if i don't look for it), then it shouldn't matter much.. i told him that i'll check when i pick up the car - but i got there late and the SA has already left.
so i have somebody there to inspect the 'damage' (as witness) and lo and behold, it's noticeable that i expected it to be!!
well.. here's the thing, its an overlay CF (got it for about $200) but now the dilemma is do i still tell the SA tomorrow about it? the CF overlay was cracked/scratched deep that it have started to peel in that portion.. most likely, who ever parked it didn't realize that the car is lowered and may have slightly hit something.
This SA has been very good to me for several visits now, not sure how to deal with this. I don't want the SA to get in trouble or have a bad rapport with him as maybe.. good karma might come back

my wife bananas! :D
imo even if its overlay, a repair job will still be obvious. you cant not make it perfect again. i am a bit picky when it comes to my CF, but CF bits on our cars are accent pieces. this means the eyes/attention gets drawn to it. if there are flaws, ppl will notice
if the dealer admits fault, have them just replace it. since it is just an overlay, it wont cost them too much

have them fix/replace it. im sure they have either insurance or a separate line item to cover those kinds of things. the dealer scraped my old car's bumper twice, and they repaired it no problem. didn't seem to affect relations at all.

Tell them to fix it or get you a new one.
Probably it's not possible to repair the lip - unless You overlay the whole lip with a new layer of CF and clear coat but that will cost more than $200 in the US.

the SA was honest to call and ask/inform me about it.. he's been my SA since I've been going there for this car.. my previous SA left and have dealt with others but so far this current guy is stand up/honest...
since this is aftermarket, do you think they can source this out?
when we were waiting for the car to be taken to the front, the guy that'll be looking at it asked if the car is an AMG, and probably assumed it is a BS. he said, the CF lip costs around $8k.. i'd probably go nuts if that was the case..
how can these valet drivers not pay extra attention to the car..

The dealer will most likely ask you to order a new lip & give them the bill. I doubt they will order it for u. People at the stealership can be very careless sometimes with customer cars, so I'm not surprised incident like these happens everyday.

and you will have to put it back on yourself.
