This is from Granatelli Motor Sports in Oxnard, CA. Granted, they knew what they were talking about but that price seems really high. What did everyone else pay. This place would be mandrel bending stainless pipes and dyno runs are included.

They claimed they looked at similar exhaust system prices to set their price for the C63 and mentioned their Renntech xpipes are $2,500ish.

It seems like they would just be cutting and welding some pipe. Is this a massive Mercedes tax?

$600 MAX

For just res delete I paid $200 installed using stainless pipes.
Fabbing up a X pipe or H pipe should not be more then $400

Take your car to a muffler shop and let them cut and install stainless steel straight for 200ish. 3k is insane.

Mike, I have a question about the resonator. Is that big thing, bigger than, and after the sencondary cats the resonator? Does one generally leave that resonator in after adding your H-Pipe?

Yes my system keeps the resonator on also comes with a stainless V-band leak free seal making the whole unit bolt on once you weld the Vband on

Here's some info and pics

All my guys get tracking and pics of their shipment

All stainless mandrel bent ( no extra welds ) true 2.5 all the way no kinks of any kind

Not a shady tree muffler shop pipe bender here...all computer mandrel bends

Everything is finished and double checked by hand

Ask the guys... Do your research it's your hards earned $$

3k is stupid pricey!!!!

Major MB tax there bud

Thumbs Up to Mikes H-pipe

Great build quality, perfect fit. My local shop charged $200 to install and the pipe shipped to Toronto was $400

I kept the resonators as I wanted a bit more volume but not too crazy. My son's bedroom is above the garage!

For 3k you might as well just pick up the phone and call me to order a set of long tube headers with x pipe! This way you get more power, sound and remove the secondary cats

That price is outrageous!

Yea thats what I thought. I think I like what I am hearing with Mikes power pipe. But with the resonators left in with his solution I am surprised people are going with the H-pipe most often since the resonators kinda already are an H-pipe. I am thinking straight pipe, I just hope the videos are doing it justice and I don't get more than I bargained for on the noise front.

The videos I originally liked were straight pipe for secondary cats and H-pipe in place of resonator. Guess I am half way there if I get Mikes straight pipes and decide I still want to put an H-pipe where the resonator is.

The resonators are flow through anyway so there isn't any HP to pick up.
Mike are your pipes stainless?

IMO keep the resonators the air the main part of the exhaust that gives the c63 its signature roar with precisiely designed spot and size for the 3/4" h pipe connector ! its gets raspy and "snotty" sounding without the resonator IMO again ... Just straight pipe the secondary cats it will be a nice middle ground with more pops on downshifts and same sound as stock just turned up 10% and it will give you a small power boost the res delete won't do anything for power .. H pipe might be to quite for you and mike can make you a straight pipe version or you can get a custom piece

In my recent work to make a nice set of bolt on down pipes and still still the sound livable I stumbled on to a muffler that is all stainless which can replace the resonator and swallow 50% or more of the bark. It actually made my down pipes too quite

I'm gonna send you some info for your header guys. Perhaps this could be a great solution to the noise and still keep the flow

ford svt's, and C63!!!
So there's not much power to be had by replacing the resonator, why replace it? Do the majority of the long-tube, tri-Y header guys usually keep, or replace the resonator on these cars? Why we're here on exhaust, short of going with long-tube headers, does deleting the first two cats, or all of the cats, and keeping the resonator, equate to much power gained? I know the headers are going to net the best sound, best gains, but the price is kinda "insane", but I'm sure in time I'll be feeding the monster by paying the "insane" price to have them.

Not much to say here I guess. We quoted a hand made T304 system that was TIG welded. I see here you guys have fixtured up a few options and wire feed them up. More power to you. No harm to foul.

There will alwasy be cheaper products

As for the resonator it has a tiny H in it and it does the job when the rear cats are in. Once that is removed if you and my power pipe with a specific sized H it will keep the AMG growl and make it livable. If you want louder then go straight.

Please check out the power pipe thread and see the people with them. This is a forum and we are here to exchange ideas and feed back please pm my guys and ask. Everyone has been super happy with the power pipe. And yes the vids do it it justice. I understand most questions are coming from newbies so feel free to PM and ask we are all here to help out
Thanks
Mike

That is way too expensive. There is one guy selling downpipes and straight pipes to replace resonators for $500 (check the classified). I think he is the guy I sold my downpipes to and they are a perfect it with no cutting required (Ronalsales.com is where I got them from).
Otherwise you can go with Mike if you want a new set of downpipes.
