Problems with Ipod on 2008 c63 AMG
I am about to get a 2008 C63 AMG on Monday and on my test drive I am tried to check out how the Ipod playback looked. I plugged in my Ipod touch into the white cable coming out of the glovebox and it showed accessory connected on the Ipod screen. I can go to the aux feature and it plays the songs but I can't control the tracks or playlists. How do I control the Ipod?

"Audio" in the steering wheel menu will allow you to see the current song displayed in the cluster and you can skip or replay accordingly but you cannot access playlists. You'll have to select those directly from the iPod. At least that's how it is on my '09.

The black tipped cable is the newest version that allows charging of the more recent gen 5v iPods and iPhones. I just picked one up today from the parts dept. part number B67824531. The white tipped cable didn't charge iphone 4's and up.

So it has nothing to do with syncing info or controlling the tracks?

not sure, i dont think so, but im thinking if the connector is upgraded, it might affect that. of course, there may be something wrong with your ipod integration box itself, which may be covered under warranty if you still have one.

... btw, you can just go down to your local dealership parts dept and try it out to see if it fixes your problem. that's what i did. i swapped out the older cable for the new one at the dealership to verify before buying it. the cable is about $55, btw.

The IPOD interface on the 08-09 is pretty lame. You have to turn the Nav screen to Audio and also the little center screen between the gauges to audio. Then you have to use the steering wheel buttons to control the IPOD. The information shows up on the little screen between the gauges. I just got a 2013 300C as a loaner and the IPOD interface rocks. Shows everything you'd see on the IPOD itself plus album artwork. To bad there is no retro fit.

I believe you can access playlists by pressing left arrow button 2 times

The left arrow just moves to the Nav then Trip screens. Up and down changes song. If you press the "hang up" button from a song, you can go up one directory level to browse album, artist, etc.

My 08 only plugs into the headphone socket, are some of you plugging into the base where the charge plugs in?

You want to use an iPod that has a dock connector, connected via the MB dock connector. The iPod dock connector is line level (undistorted). The headphone jack is amplified (distorted). Big difference...

I bought the car second hand so do not have the options list. I have the HK sound system, the 6 disc changer and the built in hard Drive. Can you have these without the MM Package? I do not believe I have a MB dock connector, just a 3.5 mm jack in the glovebox that I had to buy a cable for with 2 male ends. Is there a socket somewhere for me to connect a MB dock connector?
