Re-Paint my 09 C63 for $8k - Thoughts??
I purchased by 09 C63 a year ago and have never been happy with the look of the black paint. There are swirl marks, minor scratches and plenty of tiny stone chips on the hood and front grill. I have repeatedly tried to polish and wax these out using high end products and orbital polisher from Griots Garage. I have seen improvements but it isn't perfect and I can't keep my eyes off the imperfections.
I have a quote from a local shop (highly regarded) that describes the paint job as follows:
"The entire car is diassembled and the factory paint would be block sanded flat, then we would rebasecoat and then add 3 coats of Glamour Show Clear over that. After that the paint is baked at 150 degrees. A few days later the entire car is once again block sanded with varoius grits of sand paper until we end up with a 5000 grit finish. Once that is done the car is polished out to a show car finish."
Cost is $8k, takes 4 weeks to complete.
What do you guys think about this?

I am just like you. I intend on keeping the car so for me it would a great expenditure because it will make the car look brand new. If its a reputable place you will not be disappointed. The 6.3 (6.28) will be sort of a icon in the coming years. Plus if your interior is great it will be a perfect face lift for the car.
I say its def worth it. Post pics of before and after and if you can during.

I would agree with the wrap because a good wrap will cost much less and you can easily change your mind about it and try something different in a couple years.

In the same position with you. Be careful with vinyl though. If you have many bad rock chips it will show right through. I plan on respaying my front and having it covered in clear vinyl.

If you want to fall in love with Black Paint all over again
May i suggest a color correction process to make it new.
That way you dont devalue your car, but for $8k sounds like a complete inside and out paint job. But its still repainted nontheless.
A color correction will cost a few hundred bucks and this is the process
A full wash of your car,
Clay vehicle to remove bonded on contaminants
Do a two stage machine polish to remove oxidation and defects.
Reseal and wax paint.

if you don't like black, wrapping it is a great option. If you love your black when it's clean, consider taking it to a professional detailer to do paint correction on your car. It will look better than new provided that you haven't buffed off too much of the clear by yourself.

$8k for a paintjob is nuts . i had my showcar stripped to bare metal , removed all glass and everything else that could be removed , sprayed with Dupont Hot Hues "Snowstorm White" with many coats of clear and even had the lips of the wheels sprayed the same white........all for $6k . i love my border town
for $8k here , you can get the wildest paintjob with patterns , flake and pin striping like you would see on the top lowriders

OP-Get a few quotes. Also ask your insurance company who they refer to as well.

Paint it. Paying $3k for a wrap is retarded IMO. I had my M3 disassembled and painted and the paint job was much better than the original...got rid of that BMW orange peel in the process. I may do it to the C63 also.
