quick question about service on a leased vehicle
wiffe's GLK is leased.
I know we can take our cars to an indie and document it to ensure it doesnt void warranty but for a leased vehicle (since it is technically still MBs) do we have to take it to MB dealer for servicing?
MB Canada more specifically if this makes a difference
thanks

Messageboards crack me up! I cannot speak definitively for Canada, however I can tell you when I traded in my '09, my GM specifically asked me if I had the service records for the last service, I said no. He asked me where I got it done, I told him an indie, and he gave me nothing more than a friendly "man what did some bad MB dealer do to you in the past that caused you to not come to my service dept?"
May be just a one-off experience, but figured I would provide something that may be useful to you It probably says somewhere in that giant lease agreement if you have the stomach to examine.

I got my answer via calling mercedes benz financial. I'll post it here just in case ppl in the future run into the same question
the answer is yes, as long as the process and everything is well documented.... it helps also that you take it to an indie shop that is on MB's radar apparently... for ease of transition when you return car

I service my leased vehicles myself and never had a problem on lease return. 2005 C240 4Matic, 2008 R Class CDI and now a 2011 GLK 350. My dealer said they don't care as along as the Service Indicator has been reset. Mind you, as a caveat, the GM was a friend (still is just not there anymore) and I bought something new from them at the time of lease return.
