Carbon fiber bonnet question?

Thinking of installing a C.F. bonnet with air vent style, just wondering will the water get through from the air vent to the engine bay?

Also can C.F. be painted?

Many thanks!

my wife bananas! :D
water will drip down to the engine bay but the way our front is designed, it is water resistant so it wont be an issue.

This picture should answer your question regarding paint. My CF hood is painted black on the sides

Thanks Fung63!

Does the CF vented bonnet really helped the heat to escape?

big time. when i first had it on and after a spirited drive, I was amazed at how much heat was escaping. It was really hot!

our engines are big and works up quite a bit of sweat (heat)

Rain water is not an issue at all I even went to the trouble of consulting my buddy (Master mech. @ MB), Many people here have painted the CF hood in many different styles. I kept mine CF as it looks great as is on my car.
The weight reduction is noticeable and the heat dissipation as well(don't have any numbers).
I highly recommend it. For looks and performance.

not with my car atm but will check next week. i can give you what the heat is now and can compare to someone's oem hood heat... just to give us a rough idea. but yea, after a drive, you cant even put your hand on the vents as the heat escaping is that hot. its pretty impressive how the oem was able to keep all that in... guess that hood liner really helps

btw weight reduction is about 40lbs as per what keith had mentioned. good spot to shave off weight imo

Thx SB...C63, I have decided to pull the trigger but on a different design bonnet. Will have it painted and post some pics. when it's done.

Hopefully it will turn out ok cause the workmanship is not as good as in U.S.

Hope these C.F. bonnets are easy to maintain!
