stock exhaust components explanation please
Hey guys, so I want to play mess around with my stock exhaust by removing some res' or mufflers.. I met a guy with an ml63 with the n/a engine and he removed the mufflers and he said resonators that are close to the end of the vehicle.. Now the sound was crazy.. I really liked it and I wanted to know how the stock exhaust looks like from pictures and if someone could point out where the cats are and where the resonators are if possible!
I'm just a little lost on where everything is.. I know where the second cat is but after that i'm lost! thanks guys!

I want to keep the primary cats and maybe the OEM resonators and tips. Other than that, I am open for suggestions.

I found a picture of a stock exhaust and put this together real quick. Most people replace the 2nd cats with an x-pipe, h-pipe, or straight pipes (check out https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...uy-thread.html) and replace the resonator with straight pipes.

Usually removing the resonator de-natures the AMG sound of the exhaust.
H-pipe vs x-pipe vs straight pipe not too sure which one gains you more power but for sure x-pipe /straight pipe are louder.
Generally you remove 2nd cat/resonator as this is a quite easy mod.

I'm in the same boat as these guys. I am absolutely in love with the stock exhaust from the sound at low speeds, to the sound at WOT, and even the backfires and burps and barks when downshifting and coming to a stop. I do NOT want to lose any of this. Just wish it was a bit louder.

Buy Mike's power pipe and you will have what you are looking for : louder AMG sound. That is what i did and it works fine. You can even change your filters with AFE pro dry for example and delete your charcoal as well or install ROW airboxes. These are easy mods to fine tune your exhaust sound.
