Honest Opinions about IPE Valvetronic or similar (Agency Power) Exhausts?
Hi guys,
I am about to pull the trigger on an IPE valvetronic exhaust but I have heard from someone that they sound "tingy" and lose alot of the AMG note.
Looking for some honest opinions on how the sounds compares to the stock C63.
I know it is ridiculously loud with the valves open, but does it sound like stock with the valves closed?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Charlie

One thing I can say is that car is considrably louder with low rpm drone when accelerating and quitens down when cruising around 70-80mpg. This is the same with valves open or closed. As I am running catless right now I plan to sacrifice 20hp and put back the stock cats and manifolds to lessen the sound and the exhaust fumes from not running cats. It just didnt fit my daily driver application but it works for a lot of people especially with the valve closed. overall I love the sound even though it take away from the original sound of the vehicle which I wasnt fond off from the beginning.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.

I am running the full IPE set up from header all the way back. With the valve closed it has a lower muscle car sound and with the valves open it sounds insane. I personally didnt like the rattly sound of the stock exhaust so this was a primary driver for the switch over. The tingy sound is mostly due to the slip on nature of the exhaust I think. I used to run a similar set up a long long time ago and the tingy sound is normal on revs and start up. You will also get some of that sound with the valve closed but its manageble.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.

Hopefully I am listening to a C63 with this system on Wednesday so that should be helpful in making up my mind.
Anyone else?

I also have a little drone without cats. On level driving, it's not really an issue. Uphill, it becomes more noticeable under any RPM.
So far, no issues with my AP system.

I am running the 200 ipe cell cat option and drones at lower 1.5-2k rpm acceleration is noticeable with valve open and or closed. Under 65mph it drones way louder than stock. I am assuming it is louder without the cats. I would say its about 35-40% louder than stock with valves closed. I am sure it's because I am not running primary cats. At 75mph and on its quiet like stock.

Is the drone unbearable or is it only noticeable if you are looking out for it?

The drone was initially unbearable when driving slow for the first 2 weeks I had it then I got used to it. It only happens when accelerating again under load in that rpm range. Higher rpms, the drone disappears. Again this is due to primary cats being removed I believe. The car will also need to adjust to it as well as my car ran a little rich at the beginning due to exhaust smell and then toned down a little a few weeks later. Exhaust build quality is awesome though and for the price it's exceptional. There will be a break in period for the rear mufflers too so you will notice white residue and smoke within the first five days....normal so don't worry about it....just residue burning through inside the muffler. With the valve open it is loud but sounds like a race car. It's a tuned sound and not a messy loud sound like some other c63 I've heard with other exhausts. Overall I like it but as I've mentioned ive planned to put factory cats and headers back in to drop the sound a little.

[quote=mr747;5646864]yes I am running oetuning stage 2....I didnt dyno the car so not sure....I would say maybe another 20-40hp at the top end (very strong) having the full kit....it does feel i lost some torque on the low end but thats cause the exhaust has way less back pressure and headers are almost full long tubes (mid lenght as they are classified).
