CLK BS vs. C63 507 Edition
Lurker and first time poster.
Considering either of the above as my next purchase (soon), but am wondering if the new 507 Edition doesn't make the old BS irrelevant?
Thoughts?
Thanks.

Two completely different cars.
Is this going to be a daily driver?
Is this your only car?
CLK is going to be used and older. 507 brand spankin' new with warranty.
507 edition is essentially the current performance package.
Lots of variables. Can you flesh it out a bit more?

Is this going to be a daily driver? Not daily, but often.
Is this your only car? No, other car is an RS6.

Also FWIW, I am considering these as the other possible additions to my garage: used 997 TT or GT3, used GT-R ... and I really wish I could afford a new E63 AMG-S wagon.
Thanks.

I'll just quote myself from the other 507 thread...
The 507 is really the same car as a C63 with PP, but with a few extra hp and the BS hood. No official prices yet, but I'm still predicting that it'll come in cheaper than a 2013 C63 + PP. It's a year end special edition package to sell more cars in the final year.
The BS is differentiated by the bigger cooling system, widebody, completely different suspension, etc. Totally different beasts.

One thing I would like to add in regards to performance, I've run a Eurocharged non P31 C63 against my CBS in a straight line from a roll, and they're pretty much dead even. All of the "extra" power in the CBS can be unlocked with a tune on *any* C63. The BS will win off a line due to better traction off the line. That's it.
The differentiator between the BS and the C63, PP, 507 etc. is in the handling, traction, braking, and the additional cooling for track use. The BS hood on the 507 does add a bit of underhood cooling, but I don't think it improves transmission oil cooling at all, which is really what's triggering all the limp mode in the MCT facelift C63's at the track.

It really depends on what you prefer in a car.
+ for 507: technology inside, new, warranty, better daily car (more comfortable)
+ for CLK: financial (already depreciated), track ready, exclusivity.
My choice would be the 507 if it priced correctly. You have a trouble free car and if you are not a track rat, the advantages of the CLK disappear a bit as on the street, I reckon the 507 to be quicker and faster stock for stock.

Lol, you will think it is irrelevant until you are at a track day and there is a guy at the track with a C BS, not even close to the same cars, LSD is standard on BS, fully adjustable coilovers, rear dif cooler, larger oil and trans cooler, available track package, available aero package and an aggressive widebody.

in a straight line stock b.s. vs a 507 - the 507 will take it. The 507 has a lot newer/updated interior. The b.s. is dated compared to newer models. Handling department the b.s. handles so good it makes it feel like its 300hp underpowered. I personally would go with the blackseries but it is a pretty rough ride for most specially if your daily driving it. The black series isnt going to depreciate nearly as much as they are holding value very well for a mercedes.
