Deal Breakers
I appreciate this forum for its' wealth of information on the C63, and I've been doing my research since I am planning to order a 2014 C63 coupe within the next 45 days. To date, I've found (through this forum) two problems that would be "deal breakers" for me. The first is the head bolt issue, which appears to be resolved with a re-design on the head bolt for 2012 going forward. The second potential problem is the "wimp mode" that the car goes into because of overheating of the transmission. From what I've read thus far, it appears to be much more of an issue with those that have "tuned" their cars. Is this statement accurate? I ask, because I intend to use the C63 as a daily driver in Houston. If you're not aware, Houston gets rather hot and I don't want to get run over because my ride decided to time-out on my evening commute. Any other issues I should factor in? Thanks in advance for the help.

Well, your first "deal breaker" is already eliminated because of the year. The 2nd is an issue generated by track use that appears to have been solved by adding a cooling plate to help direct air flow into the 8million radiators we have.

The OP is mixing up hot transmission issues and hot climate aspect.
The C63 transmission is fine in TX weather. Trust me. I have seen 100 plus here in Houston and the only problem is the shifting pedals at that temp.
It's the track issue which puts extra heat into the transmission.

The 2014 also has a revised cooling system configuration and air intake design for the aux. oil cooler that was introduced on the MY13 C63.
Honestly you can't even barely tell that it's on when it's running now - they must have changed the fan that's housed in there because my other past two cars screamed like banshees.
Hope this helps!
