Would you guys change your engine oil
Hey guys, Im really on the fence about doing this or not
I purchased my c63 from a non MB dealership about 2 months ago but had a great price and car was flawless hence I couldnt pass up it up.
I just noticed one of those engine oil change maintenance stickers on my front windshield on the left side. You know the stickers that let you know when you should change your oil next.
I had a big ole "Valvoline" sticker on it and I couldve sworn that these cars only take Mobil 1 0W-40 oil ONLY.
I had my car in for a CEL recently and since I had issues with my 3rd party warranty that I got from them they wanted me to bring it back to them and I asked what oil they put in and they told me Valvoline and was praising how its the best oil on the market and that they warranty your motor
My question is if you were in my situation would you guys change the oil back to the correct one (Mobil 1 0w-40) or wait til the current oil thats in it finally needs to be changed
I put about 1000 miles on it since I got which I assume was when they last changed the oil due to previous owner trading in car for two cars so says the Sales Manager that I dealt with that actually took in the trade
Thanks

I asked the service manager when he was going over the process of getting my 3rd party to be restored.
He was not even sure what oil they changed but did tell me they changed the oil when they received the car.
He showed me the Valvoline literature on the coverage of engine and it was only up to 4K LOL.
Arent our motors worth 35-40K I think someone was selling their motor out of their totalled car and thats what they ended up selling for

Color me a cynic but personally I believe M-B's recommendation of low-ZDDP oils (229.51) for the M156 is as much to save on future warranty replacements of catalytic converters at the expense of potentially greater engine wear, as for any other reason. In other words, shift the cost to the end user...

Click on the "bevo." link that Valvestud posted above and select 229.5 on the drop-down. For the M156 Motul 5w-40 (JMHO) would be a good choice that I assume you can find where you live but there are many possible choices on that list.
