Which Tires?
I've done a lot track days in Porsches and am an instructor (ie, I drive the cars pretty hard). I'm looking to get my C63 on track here and there for some variety and fun. What do you guys recommend as far as a tire that will work on dry and wet roads during the non-winter seasons, but also be good enough to withstand track use and provide decent grip? I have the stock 18" wheels.

Have you tracked both on the C63? The street tires I've tracked on Porsches include the PS2, PSS, RE11, and AD08. I found the RE11 and AD08 to provide superior grip over the PSS, but I don't know how the AD08 and RE11 would last on a car as heavy as the C63. PS2 didn't last long for me at all.

RE11 and RE11A are amazing tires at 180 and 200 rating respectively. Great for knocking off seconds on the track, but is destroyed after the track day is done.

I've been researching options and some others to consider are R888, AD08R, Direzza ZII, and R-S3. RE11 and RE11A aren't available in the correct size. At the moment, I'm leaning towards the AD08R.
Edit: Sorry, error on the RE11, they're available in the correct size. But apparently not the RE11A yet.

I tracked on all seasons and RE11s.
Re11s were a better obviously.
Remove rear toe down to .05 and the tires will last much much longer.
On the street Re11 and all seasons meh, barely much difference except price.

Let me know what you think at 4000 miles. Oh, wait a minute, RE11's only last 3500 miles. Lol. That's about how long my rears (265/18) lasted, and I don't do burnouts.

Thanks, I didn't know what pad options are available for this car. I'm thinking I might try the stock pads for a day and see how that goes. If they wear too quickly or too much fade, will try the Pagids or see if Performance Friction pads are available.

Just pass the 15k mile mark on my Michelin PSS. Ate up the continentals in 7k miles. I thought Michelin would be paying for 1/2 the price of new PSS each 7-9k miles as they have a 15k mile staggered warranty on tread... They got the last laugh.

AD08's
used AD08's on my E92 m3 on the track-the held up to many hot track day events-sold them after a year with 2/3 tread left. Would think they would be the way to go on a heavy car like the c63. I have upgraded to PSS in 245/265 size for my C63 and like them for the street.

I talked with the Tire Rack rep today and he told me that Mercedes recommends extra load (XL) tires for the C63 because they have stiffer sidewalls than standard load (SL) tires. The SL tires, like the AD08 and RE11, will supposedly make the handling floppy and crappy. Have any of you guys experienced this?

I've run both Michelin PSS and RE-11. RE-11 are better track tires but ride harder on the street. I found wear to be about the same (slight edge to PSS).
I don't track much so I'm now running Michelin PSS.

RE-11 is what i run on my black series. Have tried both on the track and the Bridgestone is superior to the Michelin there. Longevity is also great; I've got three hard track days on my current set(in addition to ~3k street miles), and i still am at 7/32 tread life. PSS is definitely a great street tire, and a good track/performance tire. RE-11 is a good street tires, and a great track/performance tire; I actually get comparable grip/G-forces running them on my Black Series, as I do running R888 R-compounds on my GT-R.
Regardling the XL for the RE-11, the majority of the 19", and a lot of the 18" sizes come in XL Rating.

Considered squeezing some 265 or 275 Nitto NT05 tyres? If you're in the dry then they're insane and about the closest thing to illegal slicks you'll get.
I went to them from whatever stock tyre that came with my MY12 C63 and it's transformed the car. Launches are insane, and they're cheap to boot.
