Why isn't anyone in the 9s yet?? A handful of guys are in the low 10s but none have hit 9s..


Anyone going for it this fall? atco seems like the spot to try.

I wish I had 30k laying around to do Weistec,
I think with stg3 all built motor and trans at Atco with a cars weight similar to mine can deft hit high 9's.

I think it just comes down to launch and traction issues....The cars are making the steam

The Weistec CLK is trapping over 144MPH which should take you deep into the nines.....

The Renntech SLR is trapping 142MPH and is running 9.6's

god that slr bumper is an abomination to mercedes vehicles. reminds me of that nasty gold and red one. And yes i definately for see someone running a 9 this year. hell gtr's hit 7's now lol.

Not enough power, too heavy, stiff road-racing inspired suspension, too expensive to go mod crazy for the average "Joe" to really mess with?? I'm sure it'll happen, but I kinda doubt we have enough of the right kind of people interested in doing it for it to happen in a timely manner.

Not bashing Mercedes or the C63, I just think your asking for something that the original designers had NO intentions of any drag racing when building these cars, let alone going "nines".

A full stage 3 should hit 9s at atco with the right driver and setup. Mthis is hitting 10s at atco and he doesn't even have a blower! Just need the power in the right hands.

there isn't a car manufacturer out there that builds their cars for drag racing . that's why we have aftermarket companies , like Weistec , that are pushing the limits of these cars to turn them into absolute animals .

they definitely didn't design the C63 to have drag radials , Eurocharged tune and headers....but it looks like your heading that way , so I guess it's just a personal preference on what someone does with these cars .

I can promise you that Weistec will have a car , if not some cars , into the 9s this year

Alright guys, the C63 is the obvious choice for a drag racing foundation, especially on a budget. but yeah my soon to be headers, and tune C63 will be on the edge of lifting a front tire or two for sure out of the gate!! I'm not bashing these cars, but I think it's a goofy *** place to start if you have serious drag racing on your mind, and 9's is pretty serious imo. I've seen a lot of stuff on the internet talking about "street" cars being in the single digits at the track, but it's funny how when you're actually at the track, most sub 12 second cars are showing up on trailers.

Of coarse I want my C63 to be as fast as possible, and if I could get into the tens, without spending "tens" of thousands of dollars to do it I would, but 9's for me would be expensive if I started out with a gutted fox body mustang. I just don't think the everage person realizes how quick a "sub" 10 second pass actually is, I think a person sees a Mustang or a Camaro run a mid 10 second pass on you-tube and think their neighbors Mustang or Camaro should be able to do it also, then the neighbors car is seen at the track spinning off the line to a high 13 second pass.

Have I mentioned that I have an 03 Lightning that weighs 4700 lbs, and has a stock motor with only bolt-ons that our 2012 "tuned" C63 on drag radials cannot keep up with at an eighth mile track, and let me add that I'm not under the illusion that a 4700lb 2wd pick-up is a "good" foundation for drag racing with?

Anything in the 10s is extremely fast IMO.

Especially for a street driven car.

Absolutely, and I'm betting a lot of people here that haven't been to the track, or had much experience drag racing think their mid 13 to high 12 second "C" is in the 10's or 11's.

Yeah, we've ran them from a roll, and the C63 definitely pulls away, but playing catch-up at the strip is a chore, but in the full quarter, I'm sure the C would take it 3/4 runs, or if the Lightning spun off the line. But I won't even mention what would've happened if I would have had a chance to compare My C63 to my "stock Eaton" blowered 04 Cobra.

nothing like have 500+ hp cars and 12 sec 1/4miles. its what supra's are famous for. 9's is definately pretty serious territory for a "street" car. thats a very vague description to most. Hopefully our c will do 10's this year. im tired of hearing my wife talk crap about her c beating my supra, its time for e85 and more boost

It's cool and also incredible how many cars are making close to and some surpassing 500 hp, but most of these cars are also surpassing 4K lbs. I'm pretty sure new Camaros, Challengers, both weigh around 4150, new stangs are considered light at 3850, which is kind of sickening if you stop and think an old fox body trunk model would barely weigh 3100lbs, so it's 225 factory hp was actually pretty extreme, but it just doesn't sound as cool as 451.

My C when it had tune and headers and DR's stock everything else) did 11.19@125 @440rw
Now 10.9's 127-128 @465rw
Stock 12.1@115 @365rw
