MBH Headers + Stock Secondary Cat on Coupe
Anybody try this?
I ordered the MBH headers but my shop told me I should use them with my stock secondary cats - they said this car needs the backpressure and I should get rid of the H-pipe because the headers will make it too loud and smell bad.
Anybody do it this way? thoughts?
Also - my secondary cats look a bit different from what I've seen on the sedans....is there any reason why people use headers with their own high flow cats versus just leaving in the stock secondary?

I tried this with BenzWorks long tube headers, I had my secondary cats on for about 1,000 miles and it sounded good and produced a noticeable amount of power. It is true that these cars still need back pressure, that's why everyone suggests an x-pipe to be fitted if you do go completely catless. Having an xpipe creates just enough back pressure for the car to make it the best option for maximizing horsepower.
I know I dyno'd my car with the secondary cats and had about 448WHP. Once I added the catless xpipe I ended up over 490whp..
Some people have used 200 cell race cats in conjunction with an xpipe and have seen good results in horsepower. It just really comes down to personal preference and laws in your area.
Personally I wouldnt have it any other way but to be catless

I daily drive my car. It does perfectly fine cruising in comfort mode and keeps its streetability. There is no drone at highway speeds and only really turns heads at wot. Im not sure your h-pipe will yield the horsepower that an x-pipe will. Also the reason people throw xpipes on this set up is because of the insane popping and raspy sound of complete straight pipes without an xpipe. If you want to hear my setup I live in orange county and work in Newport.
