C63 AMG
Give me the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly on the C63 (New and Considering Buying One)
Whats u guys - first post. I'm considering purchasing a new or pre-owned 2013/2014 C63 AMG and was looking for some honest feedback on the negative.
This is no troll post (although it is my first) - I'm just looking for honest feedback from owners on the C63 AMG, any issues I'm not seeing on all the positive reviews out there - and how it compares to the M3 and RS5. I aware of the RS4 (5?) Carbon buidl up issues which is an area of concern.
FWIW - I'm coming from a 10 second, 700hp Supecharger 426 Stroker 2012 Charger SRT8. Time for a change and looking for more of a "drivers car". 700rwhp is cool and all... but looking for a change.
Give me the low down - honest feedback would be apprecaited.
I test all 3 (M3, RS5 & C63) and so far I like hte RS5 & C63 a lot. The RS5 felt refined and the handling was nice. The C63 had that muscle car feel that I'm familiar with, but didn't quite have the handling / refined feel of the RS5.
The M3 did nothing for me....
Anyway - looking for your feedback - thanks!!!
Matt

The stock 255 rear tires are pathetic. I put the popular Michelin PSS 275 on the rears and the grip is now adequate.
The wheel toe in set from the factory causes tire wear. Ive read that some people dial it back with success.
The transmission could be better on my 09' and was improved with a tune. I still rarely use sport mode except when I am up to speed on the freeway. Its just too jerky, annoying, and unnecessary in the city if im not wanting to race around.
Otherwise it's an awesome monster of a car.
Ive heard a lot of people complain about rattles like the poster below. Strange, I haven't had an issue with rattling.

agree with all of the above but if youre going with a 2012+, note that the transmission has been updated so it is faster than the pre-facelift models. not as quick as DCT or DSG, but still an improvement.
oh im suprised no ones mentioned rattles yet...

even in the facelift transmission i find myself resorting to comfort.. the jerkiness of S/S+ can be tiring!

it depends on what you are looking for. do you want a 2 door or a 4 door?
the RS5 doesn't sound nearly as nice as the C63. it's steering is numb and it's boring on the track due to its awd nature. the shape is nice, and i would say the interior is about equal to the c63.
the C63 sounds great. let me repeat that - the C63 sounds great!!! the steering feel is direct and linear, and the rear wheel drive is lots of fun to drive. the MCT transmission is fine for 99% of circumstances, especially in S+ mode. the build quality is very solid.

honestly as long as you dont drive crazy the gas consumption isnt anything too surprising. the car makes rattling sounds randomly and that drives me crazy but other than that i love it. i went around to bmw and audi too before i got the C63. very happy with my decision

MBWorld Fanatic!
A lot of rattles, it just doesn't feel like a "luxury sedan". On the other hand the E63 S rattles as well :P
However i do love my car, and currently i feel no need to trade it in for anything else. It is perfect

Absolutely love my (2012MY) Coupe. Had M3, M5, E55, S4 in the past (and I still have 4 superbikes), but I wouldn't want to swap mine for anything (@ similar money) My sister-in-law has an SLS, and I really can't see that it's worth near enough twice what mine cost.
I've said elsewhere: It's the first car I've had for long time that I take out just for a drive and for the craic - a bit like the bikes.

my opinion
I seriously HATE my 2020 w213... the only reason I have it is because I totaled my 2016... the w212 saved my life in a head on collision... everything about the w213 is diluted... the pick up and technology might be nice but... I HATE the suspension on the w213... the w212 was such the ride... no bounce in the w212 like there is in the w213... especially with Continental tires... I mean if you want speed in a Luxury car then get and AMG... that’s all... oh and park a 212 next to a 213 and you’ll notice the huge difference in size. : /
