Installed MHP headers and catless mids today. HELP!

I recently bought a set of used MHP headers and catless mids from another member on this forum. I installed them today(total PITA), I knew it was going to be loud and Im actually ok with the cold start and the WOT sound. What I cant stand is the part throttle acceleration between 2-3k rpm. Normal driving for me is close to 3K shifts and the exhaust sound is obnoxious and I personally think it sounds like ****. I have intentions of adding an x-pipe to quieten it down some. With that said I have a few questions:

Is the X-pipe going to quieten the part throttle acceleration any?

Besides adding cats what else is available to help with the noise level?

Did you keep your resonator?
I'm not sure if the xpipe will help you lower down the level. You could try to use some sound absorbing mufflers

I did not change anything except the headers and catless mids. I still have the resonator and the stock mufflers

I have MBH headers and have the Xpipe . The X pipe is a must with headers ! It won't necessarily quiet it a lot but it will smooth the tone out a lot so its not so raunchy and raspy. it will also give you a nice bump in mid range torque since you are now lacking back pressure in the exhaust system and will help the scavenging effect and get you more power up top as well. WIN WIN

I hope to install an x pipe within the next week. I hope that does help as much as people say it does.

Silencers limit power and flow. X pipe does the Job.

X pipe will help a bit but you will need one or both of the following a) custome resonators about 2 feet long b) after market mufflers as the AMG mufflers sound are very loud and sound like a trumpet blaring when you install longtube headers. I have headers on 3 of my AMGs and this has worked for me. I use mufflers resonators from Mille Miglia / Hitech in sydney. They can send to you in the states. They WORK

Vibrant makes some stainless 18" bullet resonators. 3" inch pipe and 4" and 5" resonator width. A local indie shop here swears by them. Gives you that low end sound. I have an XPIPE now and it makes some strange mid rpm higher pitch sound. So I will be swapping next week for these resonators.

A lot of BMW guys are running them. Don't be put off that they make them for all cars and you'll see some imports. With those headers you need to knock down that rasp. I would go with part number 17950.

That's my problem, even with CA-legal primaries. My solution is to drive in D3 or D4 most of the time so that I'm usually above 2,500 rpm. Personally I'm just not a fan of the X-pipe sound.

H pipe is the way to go. Reduces volume and some of that obnoxious note. I am a massive advocate of it

On my car there is a stock hpipe in front of resonator. It's not that large In diameter, but I believe when it's closer to manifold than it takes out pulses better. I don't know about c series.

IMO Try your old resonator or try those bullets. You have to have something that addresses hi pitch before muffler section and hollow pipes whether x or h don't do that.

Get the bolt-on solution:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...rs-x-pipe.html

X comes with two lead pipes off the collector, the X pipe itself and the two end adaptor stubs. Replaces the straight mids entirely.

I just heard one back to back vs a straight mid car and its far more tame, no rasp or drone at any rpm, plus gains power and torque.

I'm interested, will look into it. Can I keep the secondaries with an H-pipe?
