C63 507 has landed
Hi guys,
New member - am a Brit based in Uk near London but used to live on Long Island a few years back so no problem saying Sedan or trunk
Picked it up this morning - first observations:
1) The noise is simply awesome - no you tube videos do it justice - its really special - v8 muscle car with pops and bangs on overruns - crazy! This is probably standrad for you existing owners but I am new to the c63.
2) It is a boy racers dream - to some extremely sporty, to others could be seen as garish - it has got loads of attention today - it does look quite 'sporty'...
3) I have to run it in which sucks and i will struggle to do the miles before October
4) Gearbox is 'ok' but it is not a patch on the M3s DTC (in manual mode)
5) Steering has more feel than M3, plus the wheel is pleasantly not too 'fat'
5) Handling - too early to tell as i have only done 100 odd miles but tested on a couple of roundabouts and my gut tells me that the M3 feels better (M3 was better than my previous RS4 too but I still rated my RS4)
6) looks - sat next to M3 - straw poll is that the AMG looks more special - it certainly gets more looks than the M3.
7) Interior - more special than M3 - seats, panoramic sunroof etc
8) Blimey, I miss the seat belts being handed to me
So far loving it - will post a more detailed appraisal when I get more time..
Dunc
I could do some more back to back comparisons but the M3 picked up a nail in the tyre yesterday so its not really drivable

Will do!
Btw, since I believe you also got a new 507 - in the owners manual there is a yellow booklet that says important documents do not keep in car and it has two panphlets in German - any idea what they are?

Thanks for the initial impressions. I'm waiting anxiously for the delivery of mine sometime in the next month or so. There's been quite a bit of discussion about the looks and asthetics of the 507 on this forum but not a lot about performance, drivability, handling, etc. - it's good to hear about how it drives and handles, especially in comparison to the M3. Look forward to hearing more.
( So you don't have a problem saying 'sedan' or 'trunk' - but what about "tire"? Guess the Yankee has worn off some )

Congratulations, you have a car with a motor that is being fazed out for the smaller displacement motor. This car will give you so much pleasure, especially in manual mode. Your 507 is a keeper, you will have a hell of a time one day trying to find a replacement. I sure did when I sold my 2008 C63, nothing gave me the feeling this power plant did.

Clean! Man I would have been very frustrated with all those speed cameras in UK. No way you can really enjoy the car on M25 either with all that traffic

Lovely, Dunc - I'd agree with Bardman though - watch your licence. I've had to use the Eastern M25 a lot just lately - a lot of it quite late in the day .. the last leg down to the Crossing can be quite .. erm ....
And I'm used to keeping a lid on with the bikes too!

Great stuff! I've gone for Tenorite Grey, Black Wheels and Privacy Glass! I can't wait! Did you have a c63 before? I test drove a regular c63 coupe with PPP and it was a monster, so hoping this will be much better!?
