Would you trade your C63 for the new Alfa 4c

Now that my car has no warranty left, my wife (and to some extent my own worries with repair costs) wants me to get rid of the car. I might consider trading my car if the right option comes along..

And I really like the 4C.. half the power, but close to half the weight as well..

This is a pure what if thread right now, just curious if any others like it.

Well you will need a solid warranty with an Alfa....

I wouldn't trade, but they have a nice concept with the 4C. After the evil Milano (with its similar fanfare at the time), this will be their last shot at North America. They better get it right. Hope they do.

Why would you want to get rid of a perfectly good Mercedes Benz AMG to buy an Alfa Romeo? So what's it outside manufacturer's warranty? How about getting an extended warranty on the Merc? provided you have all the books i would imagine you should be able to buy an extended warranty through MB dealership? Alfa 4c looks nice, but please.... don't do it to yourself.

Better get the A45 - it also has a 2.0T motor and also has AWD.
And looks better. And has the quality of a Benz.

There is definitely something about Alfas (at least for European motorheads) that makes them unique but I wouldn't risk it - Alfas are to unpredictable.
A frind of mine has an 159 and this car is a joke when it comes to realiblity.

I think the 4c would be hard to come by since they aren't bringing that many of them. But I would do it! There is definitely some exclusivity owning a car like that, it looks like nothing else on the road. Where our cars look like every other C class. After a year or too I am personally dumping my C63 and then going for another car that isn't based on a regular car. So I will probably go after something like the GTR, Viper or even maybe a very low mileage SLS.

Why an Alfa? I would keep the merc for at least a couple more years, worst that will happen is a head bolt problem, but the AMG > Alfa..

C63 AMG 507 Edition
Chris Harris review.

Looks like a nice little car, but not really a replacement for a c63.

Keep the AMG C and get a used S2000, same idea/power plus you get to row your own gears!

*LOT less torque though!

I like the Alfa 4c, looks wise anyways. It's obviously down on power, although the power to weight ratio is pretty decent. I have no seen the review yet, but I have been following the news releases on the 4c.

And no Maverick, this was not a joke. I may be crazy..... but to each his own.

Besides, these days, my car sits in an airport garage 5 days a week.

nope too slow and girly. lol @ s2000 one of the slowest most boring "sports cars" ever made. your better off with a v6 mustang.

As long as you plan for about 2-3k$ a year in repairs you'll be fine. may not be but 1k$ one year and 5k$ the next... brakes/tires/maint/other repairs. c-class's are pretty reliable and trouble free.

I love the 4c and have watched it morph from 1800 lbs promised to 2200. The turbo small displacement, auto trans and Alfa reputation have killed my lust for the pretty face. Remember Maserati bi-turbo? And the Quattro Porte finish? I'll fight the headbolts.

You really have to be a masochist to own an Alfa. They can put a smile on your face every once in a while (before they break down that is), but they're certainly not daily drivers or reliable. Some 20 years ago my dad had a GTV6 which I occasionally drove, and while it was a special car to drive when it worked, it easily spent 2/3 of the time in the shop or under the tarp until it completely rusted out.

Having said that, if it's a new car with warranty and not money out of your pocket for the service, then I don't see why not (I'd probably lease it as it will have no resale value whatsoever after a couple of years, during which time I'd get fed up with it anyway). It would probably be a fun toy - just make sure you've got something reliable for the 240 days a year it's going to spend in the shop. And, while I'm at it, I know of a great deal on a Maserati Biturbo if you're interested.
