Who the heck loses a brake off their bike and doesnt pick it up? The hole is close to center on the tire. Think it can be patched?

Wow, that sucks!!

If the hole is in the center , it can definitely be patched or plugged. I recommend the first for durability.

If the puncture is close to the sidewalls, u will need a new tire.

you can probably plug that. but pulling it off and putting a plugpatch from the inside would be better.

depending on how fast you like to drive, you may want to just replace the tire. but I would drive it plugged no worries for normal road use. but i'd want at least the plugpatch if I was prone to driving like an idiot.

Does anyone know if the continental tires are contisport 5p or something else? The MO tires dont have a type label. The front tires have 700 break in miles on them so I don't know if its necessary to replace both front tires.

Yes the contis on the 507 are 5p. It is in superscript after ContiSportContact. I wouldn't replace both with that low of mileage; especially on a non drive wheel.

Awesome Thank you! I couldn't see it in my garage when it was dark and it just so happened to be on the bottom against the ground.

Even with a proper patch the size of the hole is larger than say a nail so be aware that the cords under the tread could be damaged enough to cause a bump to appear in time as the cords separate. Monitor the tire closely as this bump will be felt by hand and could cause that spot to wear faster as it sticks out.

Thanks for the info. I can see a bit of damage to the cords through the hole. I am going to replace the tire and if my tire guy can patch this one I may buy a cheap rim that fits and use it as an emergency wheel.

if you look at most mfgs repair manuals they recommend:
-remove tire from rim
-prepare area, basically scruff it up and clean it
-plug from inside
-grind plug almost flush
-patch

this will maintain the speed rating

it also depends on the location and diamater/shape of the puncture
