Shall I wait for C CLASS 2015's AMG?
Hey guys,
I am a c350 2013 owner, I have been riding of course the C63's around the town. I know it is sexy, beautiful, attractive and all this **** with a good ***. Not forgetting the RAWR sound that the c63 provide while making sex. So heres the thing..I heard that the 2015 c63 might be V6 not V8? is that true? and according to that? what might change? isnt going to change to the better? even if it was V6? what about the sound? Would the V6 be able to produce it? I already hate the 2015's interior. It sucks. Even the outer shape..too feminine. 507 is the dream, but still I am confused..What do you guys suggest?

2013 C63 AMG
Yes, I believe AMG has pretty much confirmed the 2015 C63 will be getting the M177 engine which is a 4.0L BiTurbo V8. I am also curious about the exhaust note, it definitely will not be the same sound as from a monster 6.2l and I think that turbos muffle the engine a bit (don't quote me on that) but in the end it's AMG I trust they know what they're doing and I doubt anyone will be disappointed. But rest assured it will still have a v8

Are those germans off the drugs they were on when they made the 6.2L? someone needs to get them back on whatever they were STAT...It's not even about gas milage...it's about the unique factor...when I tell people it's a 6.2L their like "HOLY ****" ...How fun will it be to tell people it's just some normal 4.0L that you can find in a standard mini van these days....sure it'll be an "AMG" motor but my buddies 20 year old jeep has a 4.0L V8 and that's what a 4.0L reminds me off...Screw the gas milage...it's all these retards working 9-5's who drive 300 miles to get to work who are sucking up all the gas on earth...5.0L or more...4.0L is just a joke...5.0L mustangs would seriously laugh at it. When a 5.0L mustang sees "6.3AMG" on the side they know whats up...when they see "4.0L AMG" on the side they'll laugh

2013 C63 AMG
I believe MB is downsizing their engines to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, that's just the direction many automakers are gearing towards. AMG is using forced induction to compensate for the smaller displacement engine. With that said the twin turbo v8 was speculated to produce around 485-500hp, and once tuners figure out the new engine it will only be a matter of time before ecu reprograms will be available and could possibly increase hp to about 600? Again these are still speculations no one will know for sure until they reveal the car. But it has the potential to become even more of a beast especially with DCT. The car may not have the same character as the current model (naturally aspirated vs forced induction) but we shall see.

Avery is making a good point. 6.3 is a beast on the streets. However, as Jycke said, there won't be a huge *** engine like that on the streets anymore. All companies are looking for the cheapest and best way to avoid cost. They do also foul us by decreasing the CO2 emissions, but still if every company is doing that why MB should keep investing more money on building huge engines such as the 6.3L?

2013 C63 AMG
Its going to be a 4.0l Bi Turbo.. Yeah more displacement sounds better but MB is downsizing thats just the way it is. Stricter EPA regulations means smaller more fuel efficient engines. That's not to say that it wont be "badass" MB is offering MORE hp (485-500) and better fuel consumption why not? And with a tune its possible to see up to 600hp.. Plus its the same engine going into the GT AMG (SLC) so it cant be all that bad. I reacted the same way when I first heard the news but then came to my senses.

I agree. The 4.0 liter TTAudi S8 weighs about 4600 lbs & does 0-60 in 3.5 & the quarter in 11.8. Imagine the new C63 which is much lighter & 4 matic with a tune...A SUPER CAR KILLER for sure!

If it's 4matic then I'm sure it'll be doing 0-60 in 3.3 and 11.6 qtr mile stock. Just no column shifter please!

The 4.0L Biturbo will be a helluva engine imho. The tunes that will be had will be able to put out some big #'s.
But...... the M156 is just a beast with mind blowing enthusiasm. ( Thats after a test drive!)
Cant go wrong with either but my choice without even driving or hearing the 4.0 is the M156.
Its the end of the big NA engines and I would enjoy them while we can.

When every new model comes out people complain about how the old one for whatever reason is better. Let's just cut to the chase. It won't be. The 2015 will be faster, better, sound great...all of the above. Like it always is w/AMG, the new car will improve on the old, and the only folks who disagree are the current owners holding onto their pride.

Once I heard that the naturally aspirated, 6.2L V8 would be no more, I sold my old car in less than a week and RAN to my dealer to scoop up a C63 so that I could have a chance to own what will be remembered as a classic, legendary motor.

This is the same conversation on the M3 boards for their new model. It's simply the way of the future; smaller, forced induction engines that will make more power with less fuel. Btw, tuners will have a field day with turbos since the potential for extracting additional power will be available. The whole bigger is better with displacement does not seem to hold true with the 3.8 liter 911 Turbo S that produces over 550 hp, and over 550 lbs. of torque. Since I was in this boat coming out of a M3 recently, my decision was not based on the smaller engine displacement, but rather a new model with normal early production cycle problems. The new C63 will not be immune to this so I would not consider a new model until it has at least 18 months in production.

Sorry to tell you guys that the 4.0TT will get even smaller. AMG went 4Matic for more than one reason.
Imagine a 600hp 1.5TT W206... yes thats 200hp to the front and 400 hp to the rear from two electric motors (AMG Electric Drive). Its sad but that is where AMG will be in a few years.
Just my speculation but I am almost certain that I am right.

Look at what McLaren did with the MP4-12C. That thing has a 3.8L V8 twin turbo and it sounds like a much bigger motor than it actually is, not to mention it's pretty quick and hennessey recently tuned one up to 700hp.

5.5 biturbo is making about 850hp tuned to the nuts with exhaust, turbo upgrades etc.
That's about 150hp per liter. I doubt you will see this 4liter pushed much past 600hp... The displacement is just too small.
