Adding LSD affect warranty or throw any codes?
Does anyone know if adding an LSD (especially non-OEM like Quaife or Wave-Trac) affects the warranty? Also, does it throw any type of codes or require any ECU programming changes. I think the answers are: it shouldn't and it doesn't respectively, but was hoping for a little more color from the MBWorld community. Thanks.

As long as the LSD is installed properly and doesn't cause any issues you won't have anything to worry about, basically as long as you don't take the car in for a differential issue you'll be fine.
No CEL's either!

Sounds right, thanks. Will be in the market for one for sure...as somebody actually ordered a C63 507 with no LSD...but they did manage to check the box for the chrome door handle inserts...doh!

Thanks. Got your e-mail and appreciate it. Also, it sounds like I may even be able to have my dealer install it without any kind of whiny/disclaimer/sign-a-waiver BS.

I have had my Quaife LSD installed in my car for almost 3 years. I have not encountered any dealership or cel issues. Some may argue that it's only good for the track, but I fully believe it's money well spent.

Thanks Jeff
Thanks Jeff. yes, I think an LSD is essential too. I do not have one on my CLK55 convertible, and I do not notice the absence, but that is a very different car and I drive it live a different person (compared to my old C63 which it and made me drive like an ******* all over town...even in my own neighborhood...just couldn't resist).

I am totally clear that a limited slip is good for me, so now I am just down to the question of Quaife vs. Wavetrac vs. stock. Personally, I was leaning towards Quaife just because of years of comfort level with that brand, but I wanted to get more educated. I know there is already a 7-page post on this topic, but it didn't really help (e.g., it looked like everybody was ordering Wavetrac, but there is not much info about why).
Anyway, sorry for requesting a rehash of a topic that gets touched on in so many posts, but the car is new so I am a bit obsessed right now. Pretty soon, I will calm down and not be around again for a while. Until then, Arsha and others, can you please chime in on why Wavetrac appears to be the clear market share leader on this forum? Thanks.

I don't have the sense that Wavetrac is the market share leader. Maybe, and perhaps a poll is in order. Anyway, I ordered a Quaife from Arsha to help on the track and I could not be happier with it.

I can get OS Giken also!
The Wavetrac differential is a newer design that can transfer more power from side to side in low traction situations when compared to the Quaife, cost is less on the Wavetrac since they are made in the US so we don't get hit with duties or shipping to get them to the US. Same warranty with both companies but Wavetrac will be quicker for warranty replacement since they are in the US. Other then that they install and fit exactly the same.
