ECU tune vs 507 package

Hey guys .. Ive been doing some research here and there. I currently drive an infiniti M45 2006 4door..

Im about ready to purchase another whip and i was considering the C63 AMG Coupe !!!!!.. Im in love with the performance. The interior isnt extremely exciting so im stuck between the C63 or the CLS63 !!! but i cant stand the CLS exhaust system. Its too deep.. idk why they changed the exhaust system on it. I personally do not get pleasure out of it !!!

but my question is .. . How much would it cost for an ECU tune on the C63 ? that 507 package is rediculously expensive. $9grand smh is it really worth it? or would it be hell alot cheaper if i went with an ECU tune? and i assume even if the tune would reach the performance the 507 package would reach up too? the warranty would be voided?

Im extremely new to this so bare with my lack of knowledge !

would appreciate anyones help !!!

thanks

Welcome to the forum!

First off, the 507 Package is more than a tune- It also includes the forged crank rods and pistons from the SLS, the forged 19" wheels, upgraded brakes, black series aluminum hood and exterior graphics. Actually not that bad of a deal for what you get

If you didnt care about the forged wheels or hood you could just get a 2013 or earlier C63 that has the P31 Performance package($6K) which has more power(481) than a base C63 and also has the upgraded motor components as well as better brakes, carbon rear trunk spoiler and alcantra steering wheel. With this option you can just add a tune from one of the vendors and be under the $9K for the 507 package

There are many vendors on here, most tunes seem to be around $1200 and with the MyGenius handheld you can switch back and forth between stock and upgraded tunes.

With the holidays coming up Im sure Vendors will be doing some deals on tunes and handhelds

I don't think P31 is offered anymore. The OP would have find a leftover 2013 or buy used.

Eurocharged has deals for their tune which makes almost 540 crank according to their estimates. Occasionally you can get the tune for $1k or less depending if there is a sale. Either way, the V4 tune is worth every penny, I highly recommend just getting a standard C63 and doing a tune, its way less for the same level of performance (if not more)

How is CLS vs. C even a question? Get the CLS...way nicer car that will get you 700+ hp with just a tune. My $0.02.

OP - short answer is most of the 507's power comes from the tune. Yes, it has a lighter crankshaft, forged pistons, etc... but that isn't where the power comes from. Thats MBUSA's way of justifying the cost for a more aggressive tune.

Moral of the story - You can get a standard C63 + tune and get 50-60rwhp gains from a tune which puts you on par with a 507.

Weistec & Eurocharged are who I would look into for a tune.

If i go with the standard C63 is it possible that the warranty would be voided? I completely agree with the tune idea. I just think benz is just tryina rip everyone with that 507 package. If i can get it tuned for the same output of hp and torque for 7-8grand cheaper smfh WHY NOT? lol..

I only considered the CLS and i totally agree that it looks better.. i mean were talking about a higher class and over $100k whip lol but i considered it because when im not buggin out behind the wheel. Id like to drive around and feel more comfortable and fall back on luxury.

Yes the extra $ for the 507 is worth it. The 507 coupe is amazing. I'm sure the sedan is as well. Strage you are considering a coupe vs 4 door.

Having driven the CLS63 and the new E63 thru a host of track activities there is no compairsion the CLS looks better and that is it. The new E63 is a much better performing car on all fronts.

Now the C63 is just a beast (at least my 507 coupe) and has more soul than either of those big 4 doors.

hhmm..

Well im considering a C63 coupe, rediesel because i already own an Infiniti M4506.. I want something for myself when im out by myself. The coupe is heavier than the seden. I think its about 170lbs difference. The CLS is a monster but that C63 omg i just cant resist !!!!!!

The CLS and E can be driven sedately when desired the C63 is in your face screaming to behave badly. If you have a 4 door and want a fun car...

Forget about the C63, get the CLS. So many options to make your exhaust sound nicer are available. Check out the W218 forum. Seriously. You can't compare the C63 to the CLS.

The new E is a much better choice than the old CLS

50-60 rear wheel HP puts you well above the 507.

If some of the tune vendor's numbers are correct, then a tuned stock c63 should have no problems outpacing a 507 and also getting a far better "seat of the pants" experience. The 507 torque is only 7 higher than stock; so for some reason almost no improvement there, while the tunes promise significant torque increases and higher HP values - reality however may not match this, I'm still not sure.

The eurocharged tune gave me a 35 WHEEL TQ increase from 2500-4000rpm (and that's on 4wd ML63 with AMG Cinderblocks), so the torque gains of an aftermarket tune are absolutely massive.

Eurocharged V4 tune would probably smoke a 507 edition, only reason you would get a 507 is the updated transmission and fancy trinkets here and there. Other then that you are much better off getting an older one, just getting a tune... And saving up for the next Gen C55 with 4.0L TT. That's going to be the REAL C-AMG to get

Maybe a tuned C63 would be faster than a 507, maybe not. I'm sure it depends on the tune and the car (transmission espically). I am willing to race and/or dyno.

$9k for the 507 package isn't that much for AMG upgraded engine components, better tune, better brakes, Hood with heat exchangers, 19" forged wheels (see how much those cost), and other "fancy trinkets." Espically when compared with the $6-7k for the previous P31 package. Basically it's another $3k over the p31 for the hood, wheels, trinkets, and 20hp. Obviously fine by me since that is what I chose to buy.

Plus it's not like a 507 can't be tuned. . . I'm thinking about headers

The next gen C AMG is currently non-existant. Can't even get on the list to order one if I wanted. By the time it arrives in coupe form I'll be old enough for a CL63.

I raced 2 tuned non P31 cars, all else stock including my P31, neither of them were faster, it's really too close to call. Haven't had the chance to play with a 507 yet, maybe next summer.

Hmmmmm, if this is true then all the ecu tuners have been lying about their numbers.

Not quite, a tune puts a non-p31 on par with a p31 factory car, from what I've seen/read. There is a YouTube video floating somewhere showcasing this exactly, the car were door to door from a roll, tune vs. factory p31.

edit: found the video -

the tuned non-p31 vs p31 pull starts at around 57 seconds

I guess the question is if the 507 is quicker than a p31?

So once again the ecu tuners and everyone's dyno numbers are a lie. Not saying they aren't, but they are claiming, and showing 60rwhp+. It just doesn't add up. Something isn't right.
