C, S, S+, M
Hi
Does anyone know what the above modes actually do to the car? id be quite interested to know the difference between the modes…
Another q- I notice that S and S+ firm the ride somewhat but then thought whats the difference between that and the sports handing mode and ESP off!
Thanks

C - comfort mode (coffee mode) softest gear shifts and always puts you in the most fuel effecient gear
S - better throttle response, more ready to down shift
S+ - better throttle response, more ready to down shift, holds gears longer, fastest gear shifts
M - manual mode
The C63 does not have adaptive suspension so the firmer ride is in your head.

It probably feels firmer because S+ keeps your revs higher, so on/off throttle movements makes the car jerkier.
ESP on, Sport Handling, and ESP Off is just traction control settings. ESP ON, it'll kill the fun completely. Sport Handling or ESP Sport, it lets you have a little sideways fun before it intervenes so you don't kill yourself. ESP Off, it lets you kill yourself.
Under braking, in all 3 modes, ESP turns on temporarily.

I know I'm gonna sound crazy but I am convinced the C, S, and S+ interact with suspension firmness… I go over ATLEAST 25 speed humps a day and regular change between modes and notice humps and bumps between them
M- why is this so slow lol
ESP off - I made that mistake once, never ever again.

haha thanks! Im always in M although downshifting its so lazy(unresponsive) and makes you wait too long, I guess thats the weakness in the gearbox showing

There is a very, very brief delay bewteen your hand and the transmission shift - but the gear shift itself only takes milliseconds.

I wonder if it's possible to drive in C hard enough to equate to S in another car. Because then, S+ should be brutal. Or are all of the modes independent of driving style?

But give it a good long WOT and then it'll shape up and act like S+ again holding gears.
They have both long and short term adaptive learning.

Yes it's possible. You can also drive S+ easy enough where it shifts as early as C. S+ doesn't take much to go from easy cruise mode to "I'm going to annoy all the Prius owners in next 2 blocks" mode.

Hmm, I don't find that downshifts are slow at all... the downshift throttle blip is one of my favourite parts of driving the C63 so I'm doing it constantly too.

they aren't as common as perhaps you may think, I'm not registered on an uk forums so not too sure. This forum seemed to be most knowledgeable… but will be registering on a uk one soon.
We don't have decent highways like you guys to really open them up, although our country roads do provide great fun!
Our biggest problem is the weather! it rains non stop which really gets to you when you just wanna slam your foot. Summer is the only time I get to appreciate the power.
However, upon me buying me two of my friends bought one lol so locally we represent, but aside from us I don't know of any at all within a 20 mile radius

C63 AMG 507 Edition
I wonder what my car has learned for the S and S+ modes, as I have never used them! The only time it is in these modes is for a few microseconds as I shift the dial from C on startup to M before I get moving.
Would be interesting to compare the "learning" of different people's TCUs.

I rarely drive in anything but manua. Why anyone would forgo the pleasure of generating savage throttle blipping noise one's self is beyond me.

Exactly. I make it a mission to scare pedestrians on my drive too and from work with the ridiculous downshift (and acceleration) noises. Driving across the downtown core with sound reflecting off the buildings is too much fun.

This is pretty much it.
S+: Shift speeds are 0.2 miliseconds
M: Shift speeds are the quickest at 0.1 miliseconds
(you can find this info in your AMG manual booklet)
Car is the fastest mode in the following operating functions:
Gear Mode: M
ESP: OFF
Make sure you dont make a habit of switching ESP OFF regularly, especially at speeds below 60 km/hr. Trust me , it gets ugly
